Yeah, yeah, most people did this on the 1st; I’m ages late. Whatever. Here are some of my “bests” and “favorites” of 2009.
BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT: Getting rid of 70+ pounds of emotional baggage, changing from the inside out. Duh.
BIGGEST SURPRISE(S): How *easy* it is to live without flour, sugar, etc. and how much I can enjoy cooking and eating without them. Related surprises are how quickly 70+ pounds can fall off and how *much* food I can eat and still throw away said pounds.
FAVORITE LUNCH DISCOVERY: Didn’t discover this till after I switched to the “maintenance” eating plan, but wild rice, topped with pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie filling, the plain pumpkin in a can), a little leftover chicken or ground beef, topped with a little shaved/shredded Parmesan cheese (the real stuff, not the Kraft stuff), nuked for a minute or so. Mmmmmmmm….
FAVORITE NEW FOOD DISCOVERY: Greek yogurt! Ohmygosh, this stuff is good! I eat the plain, fat-free kind mixed into some thawed frozen fruit (juice from the fruit makes it yummy). The texture of this stuff is like sour cream, I’m telling you. You feel like you’re eating something totally decadent, but it’s not.
FAVORITE TREAT ON A COLD DAY: Banana or apple slices, sprinkled with pumpkin pie spice (no sugar, just spices), nuked for a minute and a half. Oh. My. Goodness.
FAVORITE KNITTING PROJECT: Hmmmm…that would be either Bobcat’s scarf or the garter & lace triangular shawl that I made but haven’t washed, blocked & photographed yet.
FAVORITE YARN: Well, just going by the rate at which it multiplied in my stash during 2009, I’d have to say Mmmmmalabrigo Worsted.
BIGGEST FAIL: Can’t show you real pictures, but the sweater I attempted to knit from this stuff. Oy. This was the sweater that defeated me, the job God gave me to keep me humble, keep me from thinking I’d become “all that”.
FAVORITE TRIP: Singapore. Duh.
FAVORITE PODCASTS: CraftLit and LimenViolet.
