Spring Picture Day

Today is spring Picture Day at school.  In the fall, they wear their uniforms, but in the spring, they can wear what they want.  They also take a special picture of all the fifth graders together to remember that year’s class, so I told Thing One to think hard about what she wanted to wear.  Originally, she was going wear a really frilly, fancy dress she got as a hand-me-down from a friend.  She had it all laid out last night and everything, but this morning she decided to go with a more practical look.  As you can see, Thing Two did NOT go with the “twist in front of the face” hairstyle Thing One created for her last night, thank goodness!  You can’t really see it, but her hair’s in a single braid in back.  Should be interesting to see how these pictures turn out.

Hunh???

Last night, the girls were “doing” their hair, and this is the “style” Thing One came up with for Thing Two.  Oh, my.

Gettin’ Orgamanized

The organization bug bit me on Saturday.  I’m sure it had everything to do with having bought a copy of Cloth, Paper, Scissors and reading about different crafters’ studios.  I may not have a studio, but I have half a bedroom, and I was fed up with it.

For the small amount I could spend, I’m pleased with how it turned out.  Check out the before & after pictures click for bigger and for explanations):

Oveheard

[Kids at our Easter gathering yesterday with extended "family".  They were led in their attempted sales by the oldest kid there, otherwise known as...Thing One.]

Cup Cozy For Hubby

I made him a wool one a year ago or so, but he wanted a non-fuzzy, hemp one, and I finally got around to making it yesterday:

Easter Service

All the kids four years old through fifth grade sang a song during the service yesterday.  Unfortunately, it’s hard to understand b/c the band is loud, and I don’t think the kids’ mics were on like they were supposed to be.  The band was also playing faster than the kids were used to singing it, but it’s still cute.  From where I was standing, I couldn’t get a shot of Thing Two, but Thing One’s over on the left, the one who didn’t want to be up in front and visible, lol.

Yeaster Yeggs!

I wasn’t planning on dyeing Easter eggs this year, but then Wendy had a great post about doing silk tie eggs, and when I read how easy it was to make them, I just had to.  Here are the results:

I wish I needed a gazillion Easter eggs, b/c I’m sitting here thinking about how great they’d look in different colors, etc.  Next year, I think I’ll hit Goodwill for some ties….

Cooking Lesson

Instead of a breakfast “throw-down”, this time, Sean decided to give the Things a breakfast cooking lesson:

Dinner at Incanto

Sean stayed with us for the first two nights of a four-week stint in the Bay Area.  Last night, we took him out to Incanto.  Our excuse was that we were celebrating Hubby’s review/raise/bonus/retention bonus/the money he got from the forced stock sale, etc.  I’m afraid I fell down on the picture-taking job and only got a couple of food pictures, but here ya go.  Click for captions & explanations:
