What I liked, disliked, and
learned in 5th grade
By Thing One
I learned a lot of important things this year and most of us learned the same things, some learned the hard way. I liked many things this year to. One I liked so much that when it was over I cried. I hated one thing this year especially. I will now tell you about them.
One thing I learned in 5th grade was that Math is important, yet sometimes impossible to learn. I also learned that by 5th grade, your best girlfriends either abandon you to some other girl, they become snobby, or they fall for some jerk guy. If that ever happens to you, try becoming a tomboy. You learn ruder snide remarks and guys are fun to hang out with. They even make up awesome war games.
The thing I liked the most was going to Outdoor Ed. You get away from annoying younger sibling(s) and bossy parents for a week! You also learn a lot of nature stuff. I made lots of new friends and one of them lives in my neighborhood! I remember on the 2nd night, we had a rabid mouse in our cabin. Then another cabin near us had a rabid squirrel in their cabin and it started coming for us! It didn’t get us though.
The thing I hated most this year was having to go to Kumon every day (except on Wednesdays, holidays, and on weekends) for the rest of the school year and twice a week for summer vacation! At least I get rides on Monday and Thursday with a friend. Now I have Kumon homework on top of regular homework. I have plenty of homework as it is!
Now you know about what I learned this year, what I liked most, and what I hated year. I hope that when you get into 5th grade, you have as much fun as I did, but not the bad experiences.

Meanwhile, here a couple of examples of the hair and glasses Hubby and I had, circa 1989. (No, we did not know each other then; we met 2 or 3 years later. That was, however, the hair style & glasses he had when we met.)
