The Dog Ate Our Dinner

P2060001a

There used to be a pork loin on this platter.  Stupid ^&%#$#(* dog managed to sneak it off the platter when it was on the counter without disturbing the foil covering it.  She didn’t make a sound.  Stupid dog!

After we stopped scolding the dog, then laughing, Hubby ordered pizza.

Chugga, Chugga

P1300001 P2030001

The square on the left is a cotton chenille washcloth for a friend.  She’s staying in a situation where she doesn’t have her own stuff, so I thought it would be nice for her to have a little something pretty and soft that’s just for her.  On the right, we have poor Bobcat’s oh-so-shamefully-late birthday scarf.  Remember that one?  Back in JULY, for her birthday I gave her yarn and a promise.  Oy.  I do find it appropriate, however, that the pattern for her gift is coming from the book she gave me for my birthday.  I’d better get it done before her birthday this year, eh?

In other knitting news, I agreed to be a test knitter for an upcoming pattern to be published late this spring.  I could tell you more about it, but then I’d have to kill you, lol.

Bereavement Hats

Suzanne stopped by the NICU at CPMC last week, and they had run out of our care packages for parents having stillbirths/parents of dying newborns, so I started cranking out some more.  Here are the first couple of hats (more pictures coming soon):

Super Kid, Super Bowl

Friday was Spiritwear/Button Day at school, and Thing Two got named one of this month’s SuperKids (student of the month) for her class.  The ginormous grin on her face when I picked her up at 2:30 said it all.  As proud as I was of her for getting it, I was just as proud of Thing One for being happy for T2 and not being jealous b/c she didn’t get it for her class.

Here’s what Miss D wrote about Thing Two:

T2 is a sweet and hard-working student.  She comes to school each day ready to do her very best.  She is kind to her classmates and is always willing to help.  She follows our school and classroom rules and does a great job of reminding her classmates to follow them, too. She works hard on her class work and homework and is always eager to participate.  Great job, T2!

Hubby & I both grinned when we read the part about nagging her classmates.  Pretty funny.

On Sunday, we ended up doing a “divide and conquer” for two different Stupor Bowl parties.  Hubby & T1 went to one at Greg & Linda’s house, and T2 and I went to one at MarkyMark & Bobcat’s.  I cranked out one and a half bereavement hats, ate too much, did my lame “white man’s disease” dancing @ halftime to Tom Petty (I hate the facial hair!), and only managed to take one picture:

Chuggin’ Along…

I’m half done with the edging!  Please, God, don’t let me run out of yarn before the end.  Please!

Overheard by Hubby

T1, look at what I drew.

Unh.

T1, look.

Unhhhh.

T1, look.

T2!  I’m trying to read.  Please don’t talk to me.

[A little while later, when Thing One was in the kitchen, and Thing Two was in the living room.]

T2!  Can you help me?

- no answer

T2!  Can you help me?

- no answer

[T1 stomps into living room]  T2!  Why won’t you answer me?

Well, you told me not to talk to you.

[Hubby cracks up.]

More Birthday

P1310002 P1310003a P1310004a

Hubby enjoyed his low-key birthday.  Dinner at Red Robin was good, though I was kicking myself for not bringing my camera b/c Red happened to be there.  (Really, Red, it was Hubby who pulled your tail, not Thing One.)  The chocolate macaroon cake was good (SOO  glad Hubby took it to work today!), and wasn’t LOST great last night?  (That show afterwards was really lame, though, and it really irritated me that they were milking the whole controversial vaccines & autism debate thing for entertainment.)  Hubby is quite looking forward to spending his $220 in birthday money….
