[Thing One] will be arriving at school shortly. We had a conflict over appropriate dress. Please feel free to exact any consequences you like for her being late for a bad reason, such as making her stay inside during recess to complete any work she’s missed.

Ya know, even with stuff like this, I love being a parent. It’s stuff like this that keeps you on your toes b/c once you draw a line in the sand, you have to stand your ground and remember the rule “Parents NEVER lose.” She & I will talk more later about why it’s important as a young lady to dress modestly, not have your butt hanging out, etc.

Yes, folks, it’s nearly June, and today I wore sweatpants and a long-sleeved shirt. When I went to pick up the Things from school, I even put on a cardigan. Ahhhh….

Whew!

What a great day; I’m beat!

(4.5 pounds of baby back ribs + 4 pounds of boneless “picnic style” ribs + a coupla pounds of chicken skewers + drinks + pineapple angel food cake + couscous salad + the eight tons of food everyone else brought) + 22 adults + 19 kids (OK, 17 kids and two babies) + 1 dog = ONE GREAT MEMORIAL DAY BARBECUE

Hope ya’ll had a good one. Don’t forget the reason for the holiday and honor our fallen soldiers through the years.

Uncle Jimmy’s Birthday

Uncle Jimmy’s birthday is tomorrow, so today a bunch of family got together to celebrate. We had a terrific meal at Picante in Berkeley (I’m still full!), then went over to Jimmy & Velia’s place for dessert, drinks, presents, etc. Here are highlights, courtesy of Adriana (dummy me forgot to bring her camera!).
