WIPs and F.O.’s and Tears, Oh MY!

Well, I got really far on my test knitting project and then tried it on Thursday night and wanted to cry.  It was just…wrong.  Well, not the whole thing - only the armhole areas, but let’s just say that with it on, you would be able to go buy the exact same bra I wear w/o even asking me what it looked like.  This is NOT, however, Chris’s fault.  Based on the CYC standards, she did the math, but just doing the math isn’t always enough when dealing with the larger sizes (uh, like…mine!).  This is probably why so many patterns don’t go up past even a 40″ chest; people don’t want to have to do the extra work.  Chris, however, wants it to be right, so now that she knows the math didn’t cut it, we’re doing the work.

So.  Some photos, some emails, a couple of days off to be busy with life and get my strength up, a long pleasant phone call w/Chris, and I took the plunge.  Could you hear the “Rip it!  Rip it!” sounds from where you are?  I had to rip it back to the start of the armpit area (I had had the front almost completely done).  Sigh.  I just wanted to cry.  Really.  Chris has been more than gracious about it, though.  After all, the pattern was supposed to be published tomorrow.  She’s been very patient with me, when really she has every right to be mad.  Anyhow, here’s where poor Alisa stands:

While I got up the courage to rip and while our friend Brian was doing some more work on our house, I cranked out some belated gifts for Mandy (who just graduated from the Maritime Academy and could use something to keep her warm when she’s under way) and Grandma Lorna:

Cute hats and cute kid! :-D

I’m also very top heavy, well endowed, however you want to say it. It’s why I’ve never ventured to try and knit myself a sweater. I have a difficult enough time finding sweater that fit (and look good) in the department stores. They always make me look like a “sweater girl”, and it’s just not a look I desire at my age. ;-Þ

The Things look like Andrew trying to make those ’silly’ faces. Hey you got a new picture, it look so pretty, much more like you in person than the other one.

So frustrating but it sounds like its been figured out. I always have issues with things being written too short luckily that is usually easy to fix as long as i remember to buy extra yarn
