There was a widely bruited-about statistic reported last week, stating that 1 in 4 Americans did not read a single book last year. Clearly, we don’t fall into that category, but . . . how many of our friends do? Do you have friends/family who read as much as you do? Or are you the only person you know who has a serious reading habit?

 

Hmmmnnnn...Well, my parents read as much as I do or more.  I know my friend Lisa does, too.  Bobcat reads, but I don't know how much.  Hubby almost never reads for pleasure; when he's home, he'd rather spend time with us or watch his TV shows on DVD on the laptop in bed.  I don't think my SIL's and BIL's read very many books.  I guess it's a mixed bag.

The Amazing Megan

 The Amazing Megan is turning 18 - yikes! - on Saturday, so I busted a little leftover stash and made her a "Coffee Mitt" from One-Skein Wonders, to go along with a small Starbucks gift card.  I hope she's enjoying Granola State University!  Oh, yarn is 16 grams of the leftover Shepherd Worsted from Aunt Lila's shawl and the quickie ribbed cap.

One Year Ago

One year ago at this time, I was lying in a bed in Mills Hospital, recovering from that morning's hysterectomy.  To all those women who told me You'll LOVE not having a uterus:  Guess what?  You were RIGHT!  I don't miss it one bit....

The Purge Has Begun!

   

EDITED TO ADD:  BTW, what you see in these pictures only represents the six or eight boxes of confiscated stuff from the attic, plus about 3/4 of Thing Two's room.  We haven't even touched Thing One's room yet. Not all those boxes are full, though; some only have a few items in them.

Saying the School Rules

Each day, a different kid gets to say the school rules at morning line-up and flag salute.  Last Friday was Thing One's turn.  I only got one picture, but it's pretty good.  They always start with 4th and 5th graders at the beginning of the year b/c they've GOT to know them by now.
