07 Oct - Yard Day 2 - 107 Oct - Yard Day 2 - 207 Oct - Yard Day 2 - 407 Oct - Yard Day 2 - 3 I LOVE MY NEW FENCE!  The fact that we need to replace our not-up-to-code water main, not so much, but I LOVE the fence!

Compromises

1) THE LIGHTS - I had something very specific in mind that I wanted.  Of course, this does not exist.  The closest thing to it that exists costs about $40 per light, which is NOT w/in our budget since we needed 12 - 6 for the front, 6 for the back.  So, I settled for the best compromise we could find:

2) THE BIRD BATH - Hubby really had his heart set on getting a bird bath.  I kept envisioning a “little old lady yard” like the one on the corner, with an ugly thing stuck smack in the middle of the yard.  I cringed inwardly.  I stalled.  I hemmed and hawed.  Hubby reminded me that when we were very first looking at houses, we had discussed putting in a bird bath.  We settled on this one (but in a terra cotta color).  It won’t be smack in the middle of the yard, but just in front of the center of the front porch (where the ill-fated nightshade bush was before, for those who know my yard).  Hey!  It’s a “water feature”.  Ty Pennington would be proud.

Sorry about the fuzzy pictures.  Tomorrow, I’ll take pictures when it’s a little lighter out, and I’ll use the lens stabilization feature.

BIG Birthdays

Hubby came home from hunting just in time to come with us to the big family surprise birthday party for Auntie Adeline and Cousin Tony.  I won’t “out” them on their age, but let’s just say that they both end in 0, and Adeline’s 20 years older than Tony….

07 Oct - Angie Juli Tony Adeline
Cousin Angie, Juli (Tony’s wife), Tony, Auntie Adeline.  OK, family trivia questions:  1) Which person in this picture is a grandparent?  2) Which one is going to be a grandparent next year?  BTW, Angie, you’re looking good!  At this rate, you’ll be passing your clothes up to me….

07 Oct - Three Brothers Rick, Mike & Hubby.  Rick might have the most grey hair, but he’s not the oldest.  He’s definitely the thinnest these days (as is Adri!).  If you click to make the picture bigger, you can see Diane a few seats away from Mike and can barely see me next to her.  The girl in the red is “Baby Tony’s” girlfriend (Baby Tony being Cousin Tony’s 21-year-old son).  Hubby sure looks tired in that picture.  Could it have something to do with the fact that he’d been up since 3:00 in the morning???

Overdue F.O. Pics

Sorry so overdue for posting.  Things have been more than a little busy around here.  Hubby & I catered a rehearsal dinner for a couple at church on Friday, Saturday was opening day of duck hunting season ’round here, etc., etc., etc.

Here are the overdue shots of Baby Katherine’s BSJ with buttons on.

I was so excited to find these buttons.  They were exactly what I was looking for - right size, right shape, right color.  Too cute!  I hope Becky (Katherine’s Mom) likes it.

Cool

The plumbers came back yesterday and poured concrete to replace what they had pulled up.  By the time the Things came home from school, it was too hard for them to do real handprints, but I was able to get a pencil and carve in the outlines of their hands.  Very cool, if you ask me.

Socks Are Growing

I’m 3/4 done with the leg part.  Woot!  I really like how these are coming out, and the lace pattern is really easy.
