Yarrrn Pron

I had a weak moment early last week and bid on this yarn on eBay from Yarnsmiths and ended up winning the auction.  It finally arrived today.  Hand-dyed superwash merino fingering weight, 450 yards for…$12.50 plus shipping.  Yippee!  The colorway is called Caribbean; innit purty?

WIP Update

Cashmerino Aran cartridge-belt rib scarf.  I ran out of the grey and was close to the end of the red, but it wasn’t even long enough to be considered a cravat, so I grabbed one more ball of each last night @ knit night.  I love the “squishiness” of this stitch (like fisherman’s rib!), and it looks so masculine to me with the red & grey stripes.

Knit Night - With Stash & Burn

Jenny & Nicole of the Stash and Burn podcast graciously accepted our invitation to join us last night for our second knit night “field trip” to Cottage Yarns.  Here are some highlights:

 The gang.

Mille grazie to Harold for taking the picture.

David somehow didn’t know that we were going to Cottage Yarns and went to Starbucks by mistake.  When he didn’t see a single one of us, he checked w/the barista to make sure it really WAS Tuesday.  Once Jeannette clued him in, he came over. David was sans his knitting, but he spent his time trying on the store samples, as usual.

(Part of ) what followed me home.  I also scored two 24″ size 3’s and two 24″ size 4’s for some gift socks I have in my queue.

As always, a good time was had by all.  Many thanks to Katherine for staying open late just for us.  I have a feeling our purchases made it worth her while, even though David didn’t buy anything this time (I saw one or two whole bags of yarn leave with Jeannette).  And yes, Jenny and Nicole are just as cool in real life as they are on the podcast, though I suspect we overwhelmed them a tad at first.  (Was it my jumping up and down, flailing my arms, going They’re here!  They’re here!)  And Jenny’s Josephine sweater looks even better in person than it does in the pictures on her blog….
