Weekend Update
Just a quick update. We had our big annual church conference over the weekend and, for the first time since 2001, had the Things with us. In the past, we’ve shipped them off to Poppa & Nana’s house, but there’s more for them to do at the conference now, they have more friends, etc., so we took them. We’d hunted all around for dog-sitting and been unable to find any, so Hubby & I were going to have to trade off on who went to the conference and who stayed home, etc. (it’s only in San Jose). When the Things & I arrived at the Hilton to check in, we saw someone else checking in w/his dog. I asked the guy at the registration desk, and yep - the San Jose Hilton allows pets! You don’t even have to pay extra; you just sign a liability waiver. I quickly signed the waiver and called Hubby, telling him to get down there pronto w/Jenna. Having Jenna in the hotel had its awkward moments, but for her first time in a hotel, she did really well. Had a great time at the conference, as usual - love seeing friends from out of town and nearby friends we just don’t see often - and juggling who watched the Things when worked out pretty well. The Things were bummed that we didn’t order room service like they wanted to, but they were thrilled to spend three hours in the hotel jacuzzi yesterday and to get to watch TV in bed, TV with expanded cable, no less. In just two years, Thing One will be in the Middle School classes. Yikes! (You want money to develop an excellent youth ministry? Sure, take my money! Here, take more! No, take even more; I’ve got a vested interest in this!)
Did a little knitting over the weekend, but not much.
Had a great barbecue today at Will & T’s after checking out of the hotel. Jenna behaved herself very well, the Things watched DVD’s, and we got caught up.
