Is it a winner????

This is Robin’s baby gift, using just under three balls of Rowan 4-Ply Soft.  It is also #1 of 2 knitted entries into the county fair.  Whaddayathink?  Will it win any ribbons?  I definitely should have expanded the swing stitch to fill the section more as it grew, but I can’t change that now.  (Click for bigger.)

Now, to make sure I finish Auntie’s cotton lunch bag in time to turn it in on Friday for the fair….

EDITED TO ADD:  Gaaaah!  I’ve been fiddling with this, and I just figured out why the second half of the lace repeat wasn’t quite working out.  Oy.  Back to tinking several rounds!  Thank goodness I found my metal size 7 circular.  With it, I *might* end up with carpal tunnel from knitting this bag; without it, I surely would have.

Awe-Inspiring Stash

Check this out.  Now I don’t feel so bad about my mere 19.3834 miles and 35.470 pounds.

Then again, as Hubby said, It’s not the size of the stash…

We Who Are About To Rock Salute You!

Sniff!  Sniff!  I’d like to thank the Academy by saying SQUEEEEEE!  Happy Dance!  You like me!  You really, really like me!

I just got word that Dani has bestowed upon me (and others) the title of Rockin’ Girl Blogger.  Well, we all know Ms. Professional Van Halen Fan rocks, so I can’t name her, but I shall, however, name the following, in no order that makes any sort of sense:

  1. Wendy
  2. Knitting Magic Girl
  3. Kat (Dudes, she works for a RECORD COMPANY, and she’s amazing at just about every craft imaginable.  How could she NOT rock?!)
  4. Jenny (and her podcast)
  5. Birdsong (OK, I can’t vouch for whether or not she rocks in the true, musical sense of the word, but Birdsong’s pretty amazing.)

Overheard

I’m going for a record.

[Medium-sized laugh]  You’re still in bed?!

Well, YOU stayed in bed till eleven o’clock on Saturday.

Ten fifty-five.

Well, I’m up now….I think.

I wasn’t.  Well, almost.  I lolled in bed another 10 or 15 minutes, just because, then dragged my sorry carcass to the shower.  No idea why I was so tired.  In my defense, I didn’t sleep straight through — I woke up when Hubby got up, when T2 needed workbook help, and when T1 needed workbook help — but still, that’s awfully late for me.  It’s almost enough to make me wonder if I accidentally took a double dose of my bedtime happy pill last night or something.   It felt awfully good, though…

Oh, and if this conversation rings a bell, read this (the one at the bottom).

Overdue F.O. Pictures

I forced Bobcat to model her shawls on Friday night so that I could, at long last, post the pictures.  What?  Oh, I bribed her with semi-homemade carrot cake for her birthday.  (NO, I’m not telling you how old she is, but she’s under 50.  Well, for a little while more, anyhow.  I am now ducking and running….)

Click for bigger, of course.

Both are adaptations of patterns from the ubiquitous Victorian Lace Today.  Yes, that’s me & Thing Two in the background on the second picture.

Oh, Green Shawl is done in Debbie Bliss Donegal Aran Tweed, and the reddish one is Cascade Jewel.
