And awaaaaay we go!

So, we’re just about as ready as we’re ever going to be.  Poppa left w/the Things at about 4:30.  Elizabeth the Excellent is here — with Sammy!  Just a couple of more tiny batches of laundry, a few hours of sleep, and we’re off to Acapulco.

Tomorrow night, we stay here:

After that, it’s the high seas and La Vida Libre!

Hasta la vista…Baby.

Booking Through Thursday

What with yesterday being the Fourth of July and all, I’m feeling a little patriotic, and so have a simple question:

What, in your opinion, is the (mythical) Great American Novel?
At least to date. A “classic,” or a current one–either would be fine. Mark Twain? J.D. Salinger? F. Scott Fitzgerald? Stephen King? Laura Ingalls Wilder?

It doesn’t have to be your favorite book, mind you. “Citizen Kane” may be the “best” film, and I concede its merits, but it’s not my favorite. You don’t have to love something to know that it’s good.

Now, I know that not all of you are American–but you can play, too! What I want from you is to know what you consider to the best novel of YOUR country. It might be someone the rest of us haven’t heard of and, frankly, I think we’d all like to get some new authors to read.

In fact, while we’re at it–I’m curious about the geographical make-up of this meme. So, while you’re leaving your link to your post, tell us where in the world you are! (For the record, I’m in New Jersey, USA.)

Oy.  The Great American Novel?  Honestly, I really don’t have one that I truly think is THE one.  Sorry.

Panoramic Experiment

Hubby was experimenting with a feature on the camera* where it pieces pictures together for one big panoramic picture. This one is of our bedroom yesterday. Click for full-sized image.

EDITED TO ADD:  It’s an Olympus 725SW; Hubby got it at Costco.  It’s pricey, but worth it.

Welcome, baby Jonathan!

Isn’t that just the classic dad-and-baby pose?  Erik & Jonathan look so happy.

Jonathan Tagumpay (Yes, he’s half Filipino!) arrived on the scene on June 29th at 6:53 a.m., weighing in at 7 lbs, 5 ounces.  Erik, Florence, and Jonathan are all home and doing fine.

Now, to get a picture of him (bare-butted?) on his blanky that I made him….

Looky! Looky!

‘Nette looks FAHBulous with her “new and improved” slimmer, tanner bod.

David has learned how to knit in the round on double-points!  This, folks, is the man who was perfectly content to knit a gazillion loooooong garter stitch scarves out of luxury yarn.  The yarn he’s using on that hat there, of course, is alpaca.  I must confess that the ball went down my shirt for a moment, but I relented (repented?!) and gave it back to him.

I also got a great picture of him with it on his head when he was almost done with the decreases, but blog.com hates it for some reason and won’t let me upload it.  Oh, well…
