This certainly made me giggle - when we were little, there would be these massive, whole-house cleanups just before dinners my mom was hosting for major holidays. Of course we do so many things just the way we were raised, so I am the same way. My youngest, at his most arrogant preteen stage, accused us of being hypocritical, since the rest of the time the house was a shambles, but we were “fooling” our guests with cleanness… yeah, right!
Entertaining guests is a great house cleaning motivator. I have a friend that will invite people over, just to force herself to clean.
