On a Lighter Note…

On a lighter note:  I bought yarn yesterday.  Not cheap yarn.  Oops.  I guess I’m failing .  Uh, yeah.  Failing pretty badly.  Oh, sure, it was all for gifts, one of which was sort of requested, but still.  Still.  Anyhow, here’s yesterday’s yarn haul (I apologize for any off colors; it’s a grey rainy day today).

As you can see, I’ve already knit up some of it.  The orange scarf is for the Things’ pal Christine, who is having a birthday party on Saturday.  I asked her mom on Sunday for her favorite color, and it was orange.  Knowing that I didn’t have any orange yarn at home, I had to hit the LYS.  Yes, it’s got eyelashy stuff, but she’s turning 10; she’ll like it.  It’s a Gedifra 100% nylon microfiber that I found in the sale basket.  Yeah, it’s a totally non-natural fiber, but it’s SOOOOO soft, roll-arond-in-it-naked-soft.  The Encore is for the border on the aforementioned square baby blanket.  The Bambino Ull is for another baby blanket.

Note to Self:  If you don’t see a particular yarn listed on the price chart at the LYS, ask the owner what the price is!  You turned down some other yarn for this one, but this one turned out to be more expensive!

This scarf brings the 2007 F.O. count up to…(drumroll, please)…45.  I think that’s pretty good, especially considering how behind I am (need to do the black & grey sweater, Shannon’s waaaaaay overdue and already paid for wristers, Auntie’s Sparticle, finish the aforementioned blanket, do the brown blanket by the 14th, do something else by the 21st, do something in purple for Thing Two’s pal Ainsley by the 7th, etc., etc.).

Urgent Prayer Request

Got an email last night that our friend Nicole (the one whose daughter-to-be is named Mahalia) had been admitted to the hospital with possible preeclampsia.  If she has it, and they let her leave the hospital, she’ll be on bed rest.

Please pray:

  1. That the docs make an accurate diagnosis and take her condition seriously.
  2. That they make her stay in the hospital if she’s got preeclampsia b/c she’s not going to get good rest if she goes home b/c of the steep stairs to her apartment and b/c she’s already been fretting a lot.  Just the fretting she’d do, even in bed, would raise her blood pressure.
  3. That her husband, Quentin, would use his…um…strong personality to get up in the doctors’ faces and advocate for her.
  4. That she’ll be OK and that baby Mahalia will be OK.
  5. For me b/c this is bringing back all the feelings about when I was admitted to the hospital at nearly 30 weeks with severe preeclampsia.  Last night, I was starting to have a panic attack about it.  It’s freaking me out pretty badly.

Thanks for the prayers/kind thoughts.  I know Q and Nicole would appreciate it a lot.

I won! I won!

So, Kelli on  does a listener poll every episode and plays some of the responses on the podcast.  Each time, she puts all the names in a hat or something and pulls one winner who gets to choose any book from her “library” list (or one of her “fiber finds”).  Well, yesterday, yours truly was the winner!!

One guess what book I chose.  I immediately searched the list for it, and it was there, so I’m incredibly excited for it to arrive on Thursday.  Got your guess?  OK, click now to see if you guessed correctly.

Now, really, is ANYONE surprised at my choice?  I thought not.  Even Thing Two, when I told her about it, said, Oh!  You really wanted that book!  Hee, hee…
