More F.O.’s

FINALLY picked up the Cashmerino and knit the second of Angela’s mitts.  They’ve had their vinegar water bath (ratzen fratzen bleeding dye!) and are now relaxing atop the dryer.  Woot!  Don’t look tooo closely; the second one is a hair smaller than the first, despite being knit from the SAME ball of yarn with the SAME needles.  Good object lesson in the wisdom of knitting a small project like this all in one sitting.  And, PLEASE, if you’re a local who  knows how to knit two socks AT ONCE on two needles, PLEASE, what can I use to bribe you to teach me how? (Kat?  Lu?  Anybody?  Bueller?  Bueller?)   It would have been wondermous if I’d been able to knit both of these at once.  Anyhow, this is the first resurrected UFO of February.  Woot!

Well, I was too slow on the uptake to join the , but here’s a little something I did today.  Actually, I didn’t do much.  The leaves were leftover from Nana’s wreath.  All I did was embroider the holly berries, then crochet and attach the hanging loop, et voila — the first Christmas ornament of 2007!  Woot.  One down, 187 to go…. Scarf For Becky

Birthday gift scarf for Thing Two’s buddy from school, Becky.  Just a simple mistake rib thing a la the Child’s Rainbow Scarf I made for Becky’s big sister, Georgia (the slumber party Thing One attended last weekend).  Clearly, this isn’t done in two different colorways of Kureyon, however.  I used about 1.5 balls of mystery yarn that ‘Nette gifted me (from Jean @ work) back in December (it’s 2 strands, 1 wool, 1 acrylic), plus less than one hank of the purple cotton that Zib gifted me back in July from her stash to mine.  I really like the way the colors worked together.  Thing Two said Becky’s favorite color was purple, so there ya go.

Hat For Dr. Anthony

When I went in for my final (for now) onlay a couple of weeks ago, I was knitting one of the Fun Fur chemo caps for the hospital.  It was an especially cold day (I almost fell on the ice on the sidewalk), and Dr. Anthony said he could use as hat for cold mornings and that he’d wear one.  I told him to be careful b/c he had a birthday coming up.

Well, I just couldn’t bring myself to knit him a Fun Fur cap.  After all, he wouldn’t really have worn it, and there are some little girls in Boston who would, so it would be a waste of (crummy) yarn.  Sooooo, just over half a ball of Kureyon from my yarn swap goodies became a cap for Dr. Anthony.  Sadly, I left it at home on Tuesday, so I didn’t get to give it to him.  I’ll either mail it to him at home (he & his wife were our friends before he was my dentist) or take it when I go for my cleaning in a couple of weeks.  Anyhow, here’s Thing One hamming it up as she modelled it for me….
