First Truly F.O. of 2007

Here it is, folks — my first** official finished object of 2007.  It’s hideous (IMN-S-HO), but hey, it will make some little girl in Boston with cancer happy, so it’s worthwhile.  This came out a tad small, but it can be for a younger kid.  It’s sad to think that there are preschool-aged kids undergoing chemotherapy, but thank God for the modern medicine that saves/extends their lives!

QUESTIONWhy does she have this happy grin on her face when she’s looking at the TV, which is showing a commercial for the remake of The Hitcher????

**Yes, I’ve finished the knitting on a couple of other things, but I still haven’t blocked Morpheus or sewn up Keiko’s kimono, so they really don’t count.  Angela tried on the mitt yesterday, and it fit great, so now I can go ahead and make the second one.

Knit From Your Stash 2007

Yes, folks, I *am* going to attempt to knit from my stash for the first nine months of 2007.  (I like how it ends well before my birthday and birthday money.  Hee, hee!)  We’ll see how far I get into it.

Now, as for the exceptions, particularly # 2a that sock yarn doesn’t count, I’ve got to figure something out.  Since I’m not a sock knitter, that doesn’t really work for me.  I guess perhaps for me the caveat would instead be Yarn to make stuff for the school holiday boutique or another craft fair doesn’t count.

Anybody want to make some bets on how long I’ll last with this?  Considering the size of my stash, this really OUGHT to be OK, but well, you yarn addicts…uh, I mean knitters…out there understand the struggle.

Baby Thomas - Funeral

Well, the funeral was today.  Whew.  Boy, was it hard.  We were really glad to be able to be there to support Chris & Meliza, but it was really emotional.   We were doing OK until a good family friend of theirs got up and said, Instead of speaking about Baby Thomas, I’ll speak for him.  She then read the story of his life from his perspective.  Hubby & I lost it.  His story was SO like Paul’s story, so like it.  Even when we’ve gone to the SAND (Support After Neonatal Death) meetings, we haven’t met anyone whose story was so close to ours, and we’ve certainly never met anyone whose baby lived even as long as Paul (19 days), much less twice as long, like Baby Thomas (39 days).

We’ll be keeping in touch with Chris & Meliza by email and will probably get together with them soon, most likely go with them to a SAND meeting, too.  Please keep them in your prayers.  If what they go through is like what we went through, the shock will wear off in a while, and then the pain will really begin….

Fun Fur

Ah, Fun Fur.  It’s the yarn we love to hate.

So, do you, like I do, have more Fun Fur than you’d like to admit, lurking in your house from back when you first started knitting and didn’t know better?  Really?  Well, then, here’s a worthy cause, a way to use up the Fun Fur and help out some sick kids at the same time.  Check it out!

C’moooon, you knitters out there.  You can do it.  I made one already, and I’ve cast on for the second one.
