WIP It, WIP It Good…

Morpheus Scarf knit, stitches dropped, and ready for blocking.  I’m rather doubtful about blocking doing much for it, but the pattern says to do it, so I’ll give it a shot sometime this week (but not today b/c I have a headache and am heading back to bed shortly for a bit).

Sigh.  One of these days, I’ve GOT to get myself a camera with lens stabilization, since I’m The Queen of the Shaky Hands.  Anyhow, this is the aforementioned scarf that I started on Thanksgiving weekend.  I probably ought to call it ‘Nette, since I’m using two strands of chenille that ‘Nette gave me and am knitting it on my bamboo interchangeables that she gave me.  I fear it’s going to end up too short, but I really wanted to make it a bit wider than some of the other scarves I’ve done.  It’s in my favorite rib, 2×1.  I think colors are dark enough & generic enough to be able to be for a woman OR a man, yes?

My experiment w/the handspun from Knitting Magic Girl didn’t work out, so I frogged it.  Then, I started something else w/it, but I don’t like that either, so it’s heading to the frog pond today or tomorrow.  I just haven’t figured out yet what that yarn needs to be.  Hmmmmm….

Overheard

[Friday night]

So, are you going to your meeting tomorrow?

Yup.

How was your week?

Ohhhh, I don’t know.

What you mean you don’t KNOW?  Yes, you do!

Well, it had its good moments and its bad moments.

So, what would be a bad moment — when you had your face in the chocolate cake?

[wry laugh] Uh, yeah.  That would be a bad moment.

And what would be a good moment?

When I WANTED to have my face in the chocolate cake, but didn’t.

100 Things About Me, Part the Last

I just realized yesterday that I hadn’t ever finished this, so here are the last few entries in the list:

90. The first (and last) time I ever took Penicillin, I asked my mother if I was going to die, I felt so bad.

91. My first memory is sitting in a crib, playing with pop beads and someone in scrubs coming into the room.  I told my mom about it once, thinking it was a dream, and she was shocked I’d remembered it b/c it had really happened.  I was in the hospital at around 2 years old and played with pop beads in the crib.  I also regularly stripped off the sheet and threw it on the floor, and the staff was glad to see me go.

92. I once said I’d NEVER have a job where I had to wear a suit & carry a briefcase.  Within a few years, I was working for a big law firm in the financial district, wearing suits and nylons, carrying a briefcase, and using ATM’s nearly daily (see #22).  I have since realized that God laughs at me whenever I make one of those “never” statements and later makes sure that I cross that line.

93. I used to buy so many greeting cards that the girls at the Papyrus near my office practically knew me by name (and started discreetly drooling when I walked in the door).

94. I love MAD TV.

95. I love Jackie Chan movies.  Jet Li movies, too.  Not very girly but, hey, there are worse guilty pleasures to have, eh?

96. The last time I went ice skating, I ended up in the ER, getting 16 stitches in my face (in two layers, the cut was so deep).

97. I met my husband at a church singles’ retreat but didn’t go out with him until about four years later.

98. I had a psycho math teacher in 7th grade pre-algebra who messed me up for math for life.

99. I used to be the content editor for the family channel of a (now-defunct) church web portal.

100. I knew all the words to the “Sodomy” song from “Hair” loooooooooong before I knew what any of those words meant.  (And why, exactly, did my parents let me listen to that so young?)
