Recently, a friend reminded me about last year’s Christmas card countdown. I didn’t even think of doing a countdown this year b/c we ended up sending email cards due to budget constraints. The total # of cards received this year, however, was 76. A pretty small number, but I’m sure that some of that was b/c we didn’t mail out cards ourselves.
In other countdowns, my total number of (recorded) F.O.’s for 2006 was: 181. Now, before you think I’m some kind of knitting goddess, keep in mind that MANY of those were little things, like Christmas ornaments and baby hats. Still, the number sounds kind of impressive.
As for the to-do list, well, some of us were emailing about our knitting plans for this year, and my to-do list was pretty crazy. This doesn’t even include stuff I haven’t thought of yet (like paid commissions that come up)! Here is where it stands at the moment (deep breath):
- Frog, restart & finish Breeze for Thing One
- Either finish my Knitting Olympics lace stole or just do a finishing section, bind it off, and turn it into a pillow! (The pattern I came up with wasn’t as good as I’d originally thought, and I really don’t think I’ll finish it as a stole.)
- Finish my Morpheus scarf
- Knit scarf Hubby promised his co-worker that I’d make him (“Erica said that if you picked out some yarn, she’d knit you a scarf.”). He told him this w/o consulting me, but I don’t mind; it’s an excuse to try a new yarn & knit.
- Finish simple 2×1 rib scarf I started on Thanksgiving.
- Finish experiment scarf I started with the yarn my friend spun & I dyed.
- Finish MDK baby kimono for baby Keiko.
- Knit something special for Julie’s son AJ, due next month.
- Knit a few things for one of the moms from school, who’s expecting a surprise baby late next month.
- Knit something for two other babies due this spring.
- Knit something for a surprise baby due any moment (I missed the shower; he might actually have been born already).
- Figure out what to knit from the bamboo chenille Hubby got me in
Quebec, then make it.
- Knit a not-quite-full-sized Clapotis with the Shepherd Worsted that I got for my birthday.
- Finish Nana’s wreath (d’oh!).
- Figure out what to knit from the pretty blue Nature Wool I bought (just one skein), then make it.
- Knit our favorite babysitter a belated Christmas gift of a pair of wrist-warmers with the leftover dark navy Galway from Hubby’s DNA scarf.
- Figure out what to knit from my 1250 yards of Helen’s Lace (colorway Vera) and at least start it.
- Also, this year I’m not going to wait till October to start making stuff for the holiday boutique. I’ll do stuff throughout the year and set it aside.
- Knit various gifts as the need arises.
- I also want to make a bunch more lace bookmarks. I really enjoyed the few I did back in the spring, but I never went back to it. They were great, inexpensive but special gifts and a great way to try out a new lace stitch pattern w/o committing to a big project.
Are you as out of breath as I am now?
