Halloween Night, etc.

We had a low-key Halloween night.  Bobcat and Andrei came over, and Hubby took all the kids out trick-or-treating.  MarkyMark came over when he got off work.  All the kids had a blast, of course.

I did something different this year.  I get really annoyed by the sheer greed of kids (usually teenagers) who go out trick-or-treating w/o even bothering to put on a costume, so last night when a kid w/o a costume came, I made him/her do five jumping jacks before I handed over any candy.   They didn’t like it, but too bad.  Once, the parents were on the sidewalk, and I heard them laughing.

Ready to head out.

Happy, sugared-up kids.  Ooooh, yeah!  I’m SO glad today’s a “no student day” in our elementary school.  Our district was really shrewd when they started scheduling one of the two teacher training days the day after Halloween.  I don’t blame the teachers for not wanting to deal with a bunch of kids who’ve been up too late the night before and who have a candy hangover.  I feel for Andrei’s teacher….

My “Halloween Hair”.  Not to worry, it all washed out this morning.  (I do have a tube of gold for another special occasion, though.)

Leave it to Thing One to turn a skeleton (with bones accurately labeled) into a baby doll….

Various Updates

SWEATER CHOICE:  Thing One likes Breeze better, and Thing Two likes Girlfriend’s School Spirit Sweater.  Hmmm….

MY FRIEND:  ‘member my aforementioned friend who seemed to have fallen off the edge of the planet?  Well, I just found out that her FIL had a stroke, and she’s been inundated with that, plus bad Internet connectivity.   So sorry to hear her FIL’s sick, but glad to hear she’s OK.

THING TWO:  Did I mention that she participated in a pie-eating contest on Saturday?  It was cool.  I didn’t think she’d do it, but she did.  The winner was one of the librarians from the main city library, pretty funny.

OK, off to eat some real food and get the trick-or-treat candy in the bowl and staged by the door.  Bobcat and Andrei are probably coming over to hang out w/us since MarkyMark gets home so late.
