Knitting

Edited to add photos.  Click the “Read More” button….

I plan to have pictures later, but here’s what I’ve been up to:

  • Baby Bib o’Love for Drew & Eva’s recently-adopted daughter, Hope
  • Baby Genius Burp Cloth for Hope
  • Finished off the log cabin dog blanket for Sammy.  OK, I need to deal with the ends, but I won’t be too meticulous about it.  It IS for a dog, after all.  I wanted to knock something off my “knitting guilt list”, and I figured I owed her an apology for getting irritated with her puppiness this weekend, telling her Go away; I don’t like you.  (In my defense, this didn’t start till after she’d freaked me out by jumping up on me, awfully close to my incision.  In her defense, she wasn’t being bad, just being a puppy.)
  • Trying to figure out how to fix Bobcat’s shawl.

As soon as I’m off the dopey drugs, I’ll do the seaming up on the hemp MDK baby kimono for Jubal & Nichole’s baby-to-be.

  1. Isn’t the Mary Engelbreit flower button cute?  I’ve been saving it since sometime last year for just the right thing.  This is just the right thing.
  2. YES, I know the burp cloth isn’t the same as the bib.  Wanna make something of it?
  3. YES, I know it looks like I’m going to run out of yarn before the burp cloth is done.  I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.
  4. YES, I know the blanket is uneven and that you’re really not supposed to knot the ends and cut off the tails.  It’s for a seven-month-old puppy who will probably destroy it anyway.  Who CARES if it’s uneven and I did a crummy job with the finishing?  It’s DONE and off the guilt list, OK?

MORE Public Thanks

I have a feeling this is going to go on for a while…

GRANDMA RUTHIE:  That care package with the chocolates and the jammies was great!  So was the package with the clothes (I wore the purple shirt yesterday).  When my friends complain about their mothers in law, I have to bite my tongue b/c mine’s so great!

KNITTING MAGIC GIRL:  OK, I mentioned this before, but I didn’t officially thank you.  Thanks for that great care package with the dishcloth cotton, the six balls of WOTA and the knitting magazine!

ERICA Q:  Thank you SO much for organizing all the meals for us.  I know from experience that it can be a bit of work, and we really appreciate it.  It especially means a lot b/c…well…you know….

PATRICIA:  Muchas gracias, Chiquitita!  Thank you so much for watching the Things and me all day on Labor Day and even doing so much cleaning for me.  Thank you for bringing over dinner on Saturday.   Your attitude and eagerness to help your friends even as you’re going through such a hard time yourself continues to amaze me.

INES:  What a nice surprise that you dropped by on Labor Day and bringing food, no less!  It was great chatting with you.

JOVITA:  The flowers are beautiful, and the enchiladas and beans are the BOMB!  The only reason there are still some left is that Hubby and I exercised extreme self-denial to keep ourselves from gorging.

‘NETTE:  The bamboo interchangeables are great!  Thank you so much for such a special recovery gift and for stopping by to check on me, calling to check on me, etc.

CHRISSY:  Thank you for coming to visit me the day after my surgery.  I wish I could have eaten the cannoli, but I was still on Jell-o, popsicles, and broth, so Hubby ate them.   Once I could eat food, the Froot Loops were great (I let the Things open the box and start them when they were visiting me).  Hope it didn’t freak you out too much to be there when I took my first walk (and I’m SO glad I didn’t accidentally flash you!).   Thanks for being the only person outside my family to visit me in the hospital.
