“Ahhhh, The Sounds Of Home…”

Yupp, that’s what I thought as I sat here at 10:30 this morning.  Things were in Thing One’s room, playing Barbies behind the closed door.  Washer was going (third or fourth rinse on a load of Jenna’s blankets, which hadn’t been washed in…well…a looong time), Roomba going in the kitchen, dog goofing around.  Yupp, the sounds of home.

From the news today, sounds like we made it home just in time.  I would have been freaking out for sure if this craziness happened when we were in Italy, away from the Things.  Poppa came to pick us up last night and surprised us by bringing Nana & Auntie.  Jenna went nuts when she saw us.  Her back end was generating a breeze, it was wagging so fast as she jumped all around and licked us, etc.  Before I even started to unpack, I opened a wonderful package that was awaiting me from the shop of PippiKneeSocks, courtesy of Zib.  Pictures tomorrow.  [Aside to Zib:  Thing Two was really excited about it and wanted to see "the thing for making yarn".  Didn't I say she & Kiddo would do great together?]  Just as wonderful as the main stuff in the box was the card that came with it.

With school starting in 13 days (ack!), I had to hit the ground running.  Did some laundry.  Threw out all the moldy produce & bread from the fridge (I’d bought stuff for Elizabeth that she didn’t touch).  Made the Things in turn try on all their school clothes (uniforms, dontchaknow).   Thing Two is really excited, to put it mildly.   Took Thing One out to look for the few things she needed.  Thing Two’s turn tomorrow.  Next week, shoes.  I refuse to go shopping at night or on the weekend; the malls are going to be insane at those times.  Stopped at the grocery store for a few supplies and actually made dinner (hey, it’s been a while).  Finished unpacking.  Now, don’t laugh at me, OK, but I did something to my back when I was doing the dinner dishes.  How embarrassing!

Hubby’s easing himself back in.  He cleaned out the Roomba for me (what a guy!), took Jenna for a walk, read blogs about the splodeys, and played a lot of Party Poker.  He’d intended to mow the weeds today, but that got pushed off till tomorrow.  Eh, that’s fine.

Wore a sleeveless shirt today and enjoyed the goosebumps on my arms.  Feeling cold — wow, that’s a feeling I hadn’t felt in over a month!

Tonight was the long-awaited wedding of Pinky and Cedric.  The Things have been mentally preparing for this ever since Thing One got Pinky her wedding gown, veil, etc. at the Build-a-Bear Workshop at Downtown Disney.  Hubby presided over the ceremony.  I was videographer.  Assorted stuffed animals were attendants and wedding guests.  It was pretty funny.  I’ll let you know when I get the videos uploaded…

KNITTING:  BTW, on the flight from FLL to DEN, I made good progress on the baby sweater.  I’ll take pictures tomorrow in the daylight.  All it needs now are sleeves and ends woven in, etc.  Totally different animal than the pattern, but that’s fine.  A pattern’s just a springboard, right???  I’m still not thrilled with the armholes, but they’re bigger than the pattern says, so we’ll see.
