Disney Day Three, Part One

Well, Thing One just couldn’t get herself going to go into the park early today.  She fell asleep on our bed when she was supposed to be getting dressed.  Said she didn’t mind missing the early entry b/c she’d done it before.   I stayed behind w/her and let Hubby, Angela & Thing Two go.  Last year, Thing Two never got up early enough to go, so it’s fitting.

Tonight, we’ll have dinner at Goofy’s Kitchen with MarkyMark, Bobcat & Andrei.  Should be fun.  Later, Andrei’s going to spend the night w/us so MarkyMark & Bobcat can get an early start to head down to the pain treatment clinic for her consultation.  They’ve postponed her treatment a few months, but she’s still going for the initial consultation as long as she’s down here.

Sneakers today instead of sandals for both Hubby and me; we have some icky blisters.

As long as I’m here in the room, I may as well go take a nap.  Hasta la vista….

Disney Day Two, Part Deux

Thing Two slept till nearly 9:00 last night, so I stayed in the room w/her and let everyone else go back to the park for fireworks.  When she woke up, she wanted to go see the fireworks, so we got ourselves together and went back to the park.  We missed the beginning, but we caught most of the show.  Disneyland has fireworks every night, but on the 4th of July, they have a special, extra show after the regular one.  It was very cool.

After that, Hubby & I stayed in the park w/Thing Two, and everyone else went back and hit the rack.  She really wanted to do the Matterhorn, and there was almost no line, so I went on it w/her while we waited for Hubby to catch up, then she went on it again w/Hubby.

I tell ya, this is a very spiritual vacation — I’ve been praying a LOT on certain rides!  Laughing

Thing Two had a little trouble falling asleep and came an knocked on our door last night.  Somehow, Angela didn’t hear her get up & open the door, which was a little disconcerting.  I happened to be in the living room, getting things squared away for the night (charging up the camera batteries, etc.).  I heard a noise and saw the shadow of her feet outside the door, so I let her in.  I didn’t realize that my key opened their door, too, so I made her sleep on our couch with a pillow & a blanket.  She was rather verklempt at not having Love Bear or Baby Erica and was very worried that “coubigan” (hooligan) would steal Love Bear, but we talked about it, then prayed for God to keep Love Bear safe and to help Thing Two not to worry.  She had me sing her a lullaby, and she fell asleep in about a minute and a half….

Happy 4th

BTW, Happy 4th of July, ya’ll.  Zib has a good post about it today.   Then there’s the t-shirt I saw on someone today:

Disney Day Two, Part One

Woke up at 6:00, but the Things & Angela were out HARD, so we didn’t make it in for the early entrance to the park today.  Guess we’ll have to do it tomorrow.

All kinds of stuff today.  Finally hooked up w/MarkyMark, Bobcat & Andrei around 10:00 or 11:00.  Almost gave up on Pirates b/c the line absolutely stopped for 20 minutes or more, and we were pushing it to get to Lunch w/the Princesses.  Right as we were going to leave, the line started moving again.  I was pleased to see that they hadn’t changed the ride as much as I’d feared.  Lunch w/the Princesses was lovely.  Ate too much, but it was great.

Big Victories:

  • I conquered Tarzan’s Treehouse.   Last year, my anxiety still wasn’t under control, and I couldn’t do it.  I got a little ways up and then had to go back down like a big dufus.  This year, I did it.
  • Had a blast on Indiana Jones.  Last year, I was having too many back problems to ride it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it today.  Thing One, however, has not forgiven us yet for taking her on it.
  • Rode Space Mountain.  OK, my lips were clamped shut (the picture of us said it all — Thing One and Hubby grinning like crazy, me looking very determined), but I *did* it.  Hubby couldn’t believe I was going to do it, but I said Hey, I did it in 1981 when I was 16; I can do it at 41!

Thing Two’s sleeping.  Bobcat took a rest in our room for a couple of hours.  Angela took a nap, too, but they’re both up.  Hubby, MarkyMark & Andrei are on their way here.  My dogs are barkin’ as they say.  We’re supposed to go back to the park for fireworks, but if Thing Two still needs to sleep, I’ll stay here w/her so Angela can get to go back to the park.

Pictures from today so far are here.  BTW, sorry that the pictures are out of order.  I don’t know WHY Yahoo does that.  Sorry, folks.

Oh, and Bobcat says that the word from Elizabeth is that Sammy and Jenna are really enjoying their extended sleepover, but Sammy did piddle on the floor.  Hey, one of the many advantages of wood floors is that it’s MUCH easier to clean….

Disney Day One, Part Deux

Afternoon was delightful, and Thing Two survived not swimming.  She, Angela & I hung out.  She got one of those hair wraps.  Pretty cool, and it suits her style.  I’m such a sucker — $2 per inch, plus beads were extra.  Oh, well.  If she doesn’t mess it up, it will last a long time.

She was dying to come back to the room, so we did.  She showered, and after Hubby got back, he went in search of food for Angela & the Things.  Of COURSE, Thing Two, who insisted she was STARVING, fell asleep while waiting.  Laughing  When got back, Angela stayed w/the Things, and we hit Downtown Disney for a late dinner (practicing for Italy, dontchaknow).

Day One pictures here.  (I didn’t want to put them here b/c I can only upload pictures one…at…a…time.  Feh.)
