Sanjesh Hats

[Updated to add:  I ended up low-balling it and charging them $75.  I broke it down on the receipt by actual yarn cost and labor.  Either of the other ways came out to more than I felt good about charging them.  If they want to pay me more, fine, and they can probably afford it being that they're a two-income family, and he's a manager at Hubby's company, but I felt weird charging more.  Then again, Saloni charged someone $80 make a pair of socks....]

OK, here be the hats for Sanjesh’s baby.  Still nailing down how much I’m going to charge for them.  Two schools of thought I’ve heard are:

  1. Double the price of the yarn
  2. The price of the yarn + 10c or 20c per yard used

Green hat is Cascade Luna (cotton).  All the other hats are either Filatura di Crosa Zara or Karabella Aurora 8 — washable wool.  I really liked how they turned out.  The white one is plain except for the topknot.  With the others, I wanted to do something fancier.  Since you can’t really do lace for a boy (well, I suppose you could), I went for texture instead.

Now, to find some hemp yarn to make something for Jubal & Nichole’s soon-to-come baby boy.  (I was going to make an argyle set b/c Jubal’s a golfer, but Hubby stopped me b/c that’s not their style at all.  They’re more hemp type of people.  Is there hemp yarn?  Hee, hee, hee!  Time to purchase some hemp yarn….

Those are really cute! It’s very hard to know what to charge, especially when it’s someone you know.
