Mommy, is Poppa old?
[smiles] Yes, honey, Poppa’s old.
What about Nana?
Nana’s not as old as Poppa.
Oh, I get it! Nana’s old, but she’s not SUPER old like Poppa…

GOOD NEWS: The Things had a blast at Rick/Adri’s, and we thoroughly enjoyed being footloose and kid-free for a couple of days.
GOOD NEWS: Adri loved her scarf.
BAD NEWS: I forgot to get a picture of it on her for the F.O. gallery.
GOOD NEWS: I’m just about done with Nana’s Mother’s Day present. Gotta finish it tonight. I can’t post pictures of it till I’ve given it to her, but I will post pictures.
GOOD NEWS: We’ll probably get all our Italy reservations made this week.
BAD NEWS: Not sure exactly HOW we’ll do that b/c our Internet connection at home is down (I’m blogging from the local library, which is a wireless hotspot and safer than Starbucks, where people are stealing laptops left & right these days).
GOOD NEWS: My cellulitis is MUCH better, though it’s taking me forever to get through all the Keflex (supposed to be every six hours, but I ain’t waking up in the middle of the night to take a dose, thank you very much).
GOOD NEWS: My ovarian cyst seems to have gone away all by itself, sans surgery. This is VERY good b/c the doc said she couldn’t have done it through a scope; she would have had to do full-on open-belly surgery, which is a much bigger deal and would have been difficult b/c of all my scar tissue.
BAD NEWS: She thought some of the symptoms I was attributing to perimenopause were excessive, even for perimenopause. Next step is to get bloodwork done. If the bloodwork doesn’t find anything that would cause the symptoms, then I have to get a biopsy, and we’ll go from there. Depending on what gets found, options are a d&c (had one before, blech!), hysterectomy, and a couple of other things.
GOOD NEWS: Remember little four-year-old Shay? She’s been moved out of Intensive Care. Yippee!
GOOD NEWS: I’m going to speak a the annual Time of Remembrance for bereaved parents up at UCSF next week. Not exactly sure what I’ll say b/c the guy in charge doesn’t want me to read my Knitty story. I get four or five minutes. Any suggestions, ya’ll?
