Knitting Olympics

USlaceteam Don’t ask me about Olympia.  Not now.  I’m too tired.  I need to go to bed.

Let’s just say that I may have to pull an Eric Liddell from the 1924 Olympics – not b/c of conviction or principle, but b/c I’m completely insane to think I’ll be able to knit Olympia in 16 days.  I’ve lost my mind.  Plus, I might not have enough yarn.  Plus, I’m crazy.

Then there’s Jeannette, knitting miniature socks for earrings on size 0000 needles (NO, that is NOT a typo!)….

Zoo Adventure

06 Feb EA Zoo Day 00506 Feb EA Zoo Day 00406 Feb EA Zoo Day 016 Got a call yesterday that Teacher Sarah was still sick, so Thing Two would have no school on Tuesday.  Had a brilliant idea that we should take advantage of the weather and go to the zoo.  SOOO glad we did!  Yes, Thing One was jealous, but Thing Two is about to turn five, and this is the first time we’ve ever gone to the zoo w/o her big sister, just the two of us.  I know.  I’m pathetic.  I hate taking my kids to the park, too.  Anyhow, we had a blast.  More pictures here.

First BHB of 2006

06 Feb Nicole's BHB Before06 Feb Nicole's BHB After OK, this was supposed to be my Stupor Bowl knitting.  I made it yesterday instead.  Colors are off, yadda, yadda, yadda.

One strand KnitPicks WOTA in Hyacinth, one strand Noro Silk Garden.  There’s one section near the top that’s two strands of the Noro, then the bind-off row at the very top is two strands of the WOTA.  It’s a belated birthday gift for my friend Nicole, for whom I’d been wanting to make a bag anyhow.

If I can get a picture outside tomorrow in the beautiful “annual one week of fabulous weather in February”, I will b/c the colors of the Noro are great (same Noro as my Gioia).  I don’t like how the two strands of Noro section felted — still too much stitch definition — but I couldn’t shrink it any more w/o it’s being too small.  Oh, and for scale, that Bible is shorter than a regular paperback book, so smaller than 5×7.  And I think she needs a bit of a shave, too.

Self-Portrait Tuesday

The challenge we’ve been given for February is “all of me” — as in, “the dark side, the ugly side, the raw and dirty and clumsy side, the grim, the grimy and saggy side”, too.

So, here goes.  Click on “Read More” to see this week’s picture…if you dare.

Beyond this point, there be monsters.
