New Year’s Eve 2005/6

…a.k.a. Christmas, Round Four since we had to cancel Christmas Eve dinner with these guys b/c Thing Two was sick.

Last year, we flew in on a rainy night, then went to MarkyMark & Bobcat’s place for crab.  This year, they flew in on a rainy afternoon, then came over here in the evening for lobster (but only b/c there was no crab to be had for love or money anywhere in our vicinity).

05 Dec NYE 005 After dinner, presents.  Thing One got a magazine subscription.

05 Dec NYE 009 What every golfer needs:  A ball marking machine so he can always tell which balls are his.

05 Dec NYE 011 Be safe; always wear your bike helmet when you eat mocha angel food cake.  Thing Two REALLY needed a new helmet because:

  1. The old one recently got a crack in it.
  2. The old one was ugly.
  3. The old one looked like it was for a boy.
  4. The old one was red and gold (49ers colors.)

05 Dec NYE 015  Bobcat, Andrei & MarkMark, toasting the new year at oh, 8:00 or 9:00, somewhere around there.  Oh, yes, we were a lively bunch.

The kids loved their apple cider.  The Veuve Clicquot was wondermous.  (We drank half the bottle of jasmine green tea, Adri; it was great!)  Everyone loved their gifts.  We actually did try to watch the ball drop in Times Square, but when we turned on the TV just before 9:00 our time, nobody had it on.  A good time was had by all, but we’re a bunch of tired old fogeys with young kids, so they were gone by about 10:45.

Once I finished the dishes and put in a load of laundry, I spent the rest of the time uploading photos and doing this blog entry.  Whooppee!  No “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” this year (If you’re really nice, I won’t tell you my story about that, Rod Stewart, and a nightmare).  Now, off to sleep.  Actually, no.  Off to move the laundry from the washer to the dryer, put another load in the washer, THEN to bed.  Oooooooh!

Happy New Year, ya’ll.  Click here for the full album of New Year’s Eve delights.
