OK, who was I kidding, saying I might do some cleaning yesterday? Bwahaha! That’s a laugh! We have a big problem over here — the Roomba isn’t working. NOT good. When it’s on the charger, it says it’s all charged up, but as soon as you take it off and try to turn it on, it gives the “Sorry, Bub, I’m all out of juice” noise and the red “no power” light. Ugh. Hubby says he’ll take a look at it, but meanwhile I have to actually…vaccuum! Gasp! I’m getting so grossed out that I may actually do that today. As for cleaning the floors…well, I think I’m going to call The Amazing Megan today and see if she wants to make some money on Friday afternoon.
MarkyMark, Bobcat & Andrei came over on Saturday to borrow our Christmas tree for their Christmas picture. I think we got a cute one. They all had red jammies on, and Andrei had a stuffed doggy; very Christmassy. While they were here, Bobcat bought three scarves from me for different members of the “Chili Peppers” for Christmas. [NOTE: The "Chili Peppers" are a bunch of Latin ladies of various ages from church. Bobcat & I are honorary Chili Peppers b/c our married last names are Spanish.] Very cool. I’m actually almost out of scarves, if you can believe it, so I need to make some more. I’m still nowhere close to the money I’ve made equalling what I’ve spent, but it’s nice to be bringing some in, you know? I think the next scarf will be one of those ruffly scarves to try to use up some of the Denim Storm Paton’s Divine that I bought ten whole balls of way back when. So far, I’ve made a scarf for last year’s teacher, a scarf for Adri, and a poncho for MEY out of the stuff, and I still have four and a half or five balls of the stuff!
Current W.I.P.’s:
- Eyelet stole in Paton’s Divine (Richest Rose). This was supposed to be for the boutique, but it didn’t get done in time. Need to pick it back up and be done with it.
- Multi-D scarf #1 — Yesterday, I finally went and frogged it back to the first section, took off about an inch so that it’s only 4″ wide and started again. NOW I should have enough yarn to finish it. This is the one in the Filatura di Crosa 127 Print from Dani.
- Multi-D scarf #2 — I’m about 2/3 through this one since I finished the second ball and need to get the third ball down from the attic. This is the one in the springy greens from Sherri, the yarn with the little larvae-like slubs every so often. The multi-d pattern is really easy. The only reason this one is taking soooo long is that it’s thin yarn on smaller needles, so it’s taking a long time. Plus, it usually lives in my take-along bag, and it doesn’t get worked on often enough.
Need/Want to Start:
- Mystery gift I can’t mention here. This is in response to a specific request from someone’s spouse, actually. I was really happy that this person’s spouse asked.
- Baby hats. I want to make a hat for Patrick & Anita’s baby, DeShaun. They’re leaving for San Diego for Christmas, so I’d better make it tomorrow before church. I coordinated getting a zillion different gifts for him when they first got him, but I haven’t made this kid anything, and that’s just wrong.
- More baby hats. I’d like to make new hats for the twins (now that my knitting has improved!) for Christmas. Since we’re not seeing them till the 29th, I should have plenty of time.
- I’ve been wanting to try entrelac knitting. Since I’ve gotten so used to doing short rows from the multi-d scarves and that one dish cloth I made, it should be pretty easy. I’m really likin’ me the Danica pattern from the latest Knitty.
- The sweaters. Yes, I promised the Things sweaters ages ago, and I originally intended to make them for Christmas. Oh, well. I do need to make them. They’ll be crummy acrylic yarn but hey, they need to be totally washable, and, in my defense, I bought the yarn way back before I discovered “the good stuff”. I gotta use it up. I have my pattern that I actually bought, so I need to do it.
- Repairs: I also need to alter Auntie’s poncho so she can wear it. This will probably happen on Thursday when she’s here. Also, I seem to have dropped a stitch on Bobcat’s shawl that didn’t show itself till she started wearing it. I have lots of leftover yarn, and the shawl is in my possession, so I need to fix that before Christmas Eve, too, so she can wear it on Christmas Day.
- Clapotis. I’m planning to use my birthday yarn — Noro Silk Garden. I just can’t decide if I should use the three skeins I have an make a smaller Clapotis or try to get two more from the same dye lot and make a full-sized one. I’m thinking I should use a portion of my Christmas money to get two or three more skeins and do the full-sized one (just a portion; the rest will probably go towards a new printer to replace our other one, which is officially pooched). What say you all?
- Sweater for Noodles. Who, you ask, is Noodles? Noodles is Jeannette’s newest Chihuahua. Remember when Jeannette gave me a boatload of yarn with the stipulation that I use three certain skeins for a sweater for Dulci? Well, since then she’s acquired Noodles and has asked that I make it for Noodles instead b/c Noodles has short hair and is cold.
- Wrist warmers from Last-Minute Knitted Gifts for Brandi. This is a barter situation. Brandi made several sets of stitch markers for me to give as gifts, and I said I’d make the wrist warmers for her as a trade.
Hubby has discovered this great MP3/4 file source. It’s called www.allofmp3.com. The songs are WAY cheaper than iTunes. Way cheaper. I’m lovin’ it. Instead of all songs being 99c, some are as low as 8c. Very cool. You put a certain amount down as a balance, then buy a bunch of songs and work down your balance. Hubby also just got a new work laptop this week, and he’s put a bunch of songs on there. He’s really liking his iPod Shuffle, so the Nano seems to have sort of become mine to use. Since last night, I’ve downloaded over 50 songs for less than the price of ONE CD. Can’t beat that.
Off to get dressed, finish the laundry, and go run an errand or two. Maybe.
