Sprained Finger

05 Dec S Sling No, she’s not playing dress-up; Thing One sprained her finger yesterday afternoon.  Somehow, she managed to shut her own finger in the bedroom door.  I’m really not sure how she did that, but she did.  It really hurt, and she was really verklempt about it, so we went to the doctor’s office.  The doc & I didn’t think it was broken, but she taped the finger to the one next to it, put a bandage on it, and gave her a sling to let her rest it, keep her from bonking it, and keep it from hanging down and getting more swollen.  As the doc, who is also a mom, said, “Never underestimate the healing power of TLC.”  So, Thing One has a sling.  As you can see, she’s no longer verklempt about it.  She was just glad she wasn’t going to need shots or stitches!

School Christmas Party

05 Dec Christmas - S School Party 00205 Dec Christmas - S School Party 00905 Dec Christmas - S School Party 014 Yesterday, they did no work at school.  Are you surprised?  Of course not — it was the last day before Christmas break, and they got out at 12:50.  Thing One’s class had a breakfast party that essentially lasted all day.  Thing Two and I were there for the first hour and a half or two hours, then went home to wrap presents, let Jenna out, etc.  Click here for the rest of the pictures.  There would have been some of the adults, but my batteries died.

Baby Hats

05 Dec Hats For Kristi These are the hats I’ve made the last couple of days for my friend Kristi’s baby shower on Sunday.  I know, two hats in what, four days?  Pathetic.  Ya gotta realize how little time I’ve spent knitting, though.  Most of the green one was done tonight at a Christmas party.  The pink one is the Quatrefoil Eyelet pattern from the first Barbara Walker book.  The other one is just two rows of simple K2tog, YO thrown into a stockinette hat.  First baby stuff I’ve made since the hats for Baby Kai (the male one).  Probably not the best week for me to be doing them b/c I’ve been so depressed all week, but her shower’s on Sunday, so I didn’t have the luxury of being able to wait.

Christmas Card Countdown

Number Sent Last Year:  298 or so

Number Ordered This Year:  325

Number To Be Addressed By Me:  300

Number Addressed:  Um…I’m afraid I’ve lost track.  I think we’re at 270, but I’m not entirely sure.

Number Received Last Year:  150

Number Received Year to Date:  31

Went out last night and made 300 copies of the Christmas letter.  Bleh!  Had to go to Kinko’s b/c Copy Central near here closed, apparently way back in February.  Who knew?  I don’t like Kinko’s.  It probably goes back to the time I was told they did discounts for non-profits, but then they charged us full price for a boatload of copying for the church.  Anyhow, I will say this for them:  I like the way the self-serve copy area is automated now.  It’s nice not to have to deal with a clerk.  You just go in, stick your credit card in the reader, make your copies, and leave.  And, OY, the price of copies!  Didn’t they used to be 3c a copy when I was in college?  Why are they 9c now?  Ugh!
