Braids, Winter, etc.
Check it out! Thing Two has had her hair in braids for an hour and a half now! Last night, she said she wanted me to braid her hair today. I actually had to do it twice b/c I did it wrong at first. Somehow, I was supposed to know she wanted the braids in back, not on the sides like Pippi Longstocking (not that she knows who Pippi Longstocking is).
Can’t wait to see how long this lasts. We’ve been working on getting her to wear her hair in a pony tail or a headband, saying that she has to practice for kindergarten next year when she won’t be able to wear her hair down and crazy. She looks totally different with her hair back — SO pretty! My personal favorite is when she wears it in a single pony tail.
Winter is back. I know I’m a freak, but I’ve really been ready for winter to come, so all the nice weather has been bugging me (I said I was a freak). Anyhow, despite what the online weather report says, when I was driving Thing One to school this morning, the outside temperature was 39. I’m sure my friends in Long Island (on Long Island?) and Kentucky will say that’s no big deal, but around here it is. Miss Jenna has parked herself by the heater, and I don’t blame her. Thing Two still has her jacket on. I’ve been too cold to get naked and take a shower!
On the agenda for today (after a shower!):
- Address the rest of the Christmas cards.
- Finish the pink lace baby hat for Kristy’s baby shower on Sunday (I’m not going — still not up to baby showers, even if it weren’t at the same time as Steven’s party — but I’ll send it along with someone else or give it to her at church), plus at least one more for her.
- Finish the red dish cloth currently on the needles.
- After hubby comes home, sneak out to the dollar store to do some…uh…shopping. You know…that kind of shopping I can’t tell the Things about…C’mon, parents, you know what I’m talking about, right? I don’t need to spell it out, do I?
- Figure out what kind of store-bought treats to take tomorrow for Thing One’s breakfast Christmas party at school.
- Since Jenna doesn’t seem bothered by the Christmas tree or the presents, wrap some more presents to put under the tree.
EDITED LATER: The braids lasted three hours. That’s about two and a half hours longer than I expected them to, so that’s great!
