Dani ROCKS!

05 Nov SP Goodies - Round 3  When this whole FKAL SP thing started, I remember thinking “Wouldn’t it be funny if I got Dani or Dani got me?”  Well, I recently put two and two together and figured out that Dani actually WAS the person sending to me.  At least, I thought so.  Then, of course, I had all those “Well, maybe it’s someone else who’s just letting me think she’s Dani”, etc. thoughts.

Well, turns out I was right.  I just opened my my final SP package a few minutes ago, and Dani was, indeed, my SP.  Check out all this cool stuff!

In case you can’t tell, we have a knitting journal, a needle felting starter kit, some wool for needle felting, a pattern from Two Old Bags, a small pink button with a sheep on it that says “Baaaad Girl”, a tin of Burt’s Bees hand salve, a cute knitting notepad, sticky notes that say “Knitting Rocks!”, and a little magnetic picture frame.

Dani & I had planned to do another yarn trade — a cone of black LP worsted for a cone of my burgundy rayon chenille — and she’d planned to include my yarn in this package, but it didn’t come in time.  I hope it comes in time for me to crank out a couple of black bags for the boutique!

Anyhow, THANKS, DANI!  You ROCK!  I tell ya, I got really lucky on both the sending & receiving ends of this SP thing, and I’m really grateful.

Bleh / Whine, etc.

Murphy’s Law is still in full operation.  We’re supposed to leave today for our big Squaw Valley trip, and I feel like dirt.  Of course.  Actually, I’m not too upset about it.  Even if I end up feeling bad on our trip, I can rest in the big king-sized bed and eat room service food, right?

I ran out of Excedrin Migraine yesterday and forgot to get more at Costco today, so I have a headache.  I’m pumping myself full of caffeine in hopes that that will help.  I *did*, however, get more “happy pills” yesterday, so that’s taken care of.  I must have slept funny last night or something b/c I’m really sore today — neck, back, hip, etc. Maybe I’m getting old?  Naaah!

Anyhow, b/c of all my aches & pains, I’m not doing nearly what I should to get ready for Grandma. We have plenty of food, and that’s about it.  She’ll just have to cope with the dirt, I’m afraid.  Oh, well.

The good things about leaving later?

  1. We should miss the commute traffic.
  2. I should be able to get my priority mail package from Dani…I mean my FKAL SP…before we leave.  Woo hoo!

I’ve been feeling sentimental, so I just sent an email to all my bridesmaids, a couple of the groomsmen, and various others who were involved in our wedding to say “thanks”.  Hope they get it soon.

The good things about feeling crummy?

  1. Hubby won’t feel guilty golfing w/o me.
  2. It’s more likely that hubby will say “OK” to my spending the $$ to get a massage and/or other body treatment at the spa tomorrow.  Mmmmm….

Knitting Update

05 Nov Snake  I like this little guy.  He’s rather a cute little LB Homespun snake.  I think that boys at the boutique might actually buy snakes like this — I’ll make them in different lengths.

This little guy, however, was the highlight of my knitting day.  THAT, my friends, is pathetic.

Remember the cotton chenille old shale scarf?  Well, she is no more.  It all began last night when I stupidly tried to work on it in the later evening, while listening to music and watching a sad Simple Plan video. BIG mistake.  BIIIIIG mistake.

At some point, I realized that I had the wrong number of stitches.  I set it aside to work on fixing at another time.  Well, this evening I made the mistake of picking it up when the Things were still awake.  Actually, the true equation would look something like this:

no “happy pills” for a couple of days + butt monkeys all day + people asking me questions and otherwise talking to me + trying to very carefully unknit row upon row of lace knitting (and split infinitives) + cotton chenille yarn = ONE VERY BAD IDEA.  Yes, folks, I even ended up having a stupid, childish tantrum and throwing my needles across the room (PLEASE tell me that someone else out there has done this at some point!!).

I should have quit while I was ahead and tried to wing it and somehow add back in a stitch or something.  The poor scarf got so messed up as I tried to fix it that I just frogged the whole darn thing.  The yarn is probably terribly fragile now, since chenille doesn’t frog well.  Sigh.  Knitting is not supposed to inspire unChristian-like exclamations of short words beginning with the letter “F”, so I did what any logical person would do:  Once I had it all frogged, I marched into the kitchen and ate a bowl of Frosted Flakes and 2% milk.

At least I still have my multi-directional scarf in Pingouin Hesperides from Sherri on the needles.  I’ll have to cast on tomorrow for something simple on bamboo needles for my car knitting for the trip.
