Secret Pal

Speaking of the FKAL SP thing….

This month is the last month of our secret pal thing, so we’re supposed to “reveal” ourselves with the package that’s due in the mail by November 10th.  Well, I initially set up my “anonymous” email incorrectly, so it “outed” me right away.  All along, the girl I’ve been sending stuff to has known who I was, but we played along anyway.

Well, yesterday was her birthday (though I thought it was today!), and I wanted to do something a little extra, so as I was driving my sorry behind to Curves this morning, I whipped out the cell phone, called 411, got the number for Dino Digs at Turfland Mall in Lexington, Kentucky, and called YOUNG Miss Leah to say “Happy Birthday.”

It was cool to “meet” her on the phone.  I’ve really enjoyed this whole Secret Pal thing.  Not sure if I’ll be able to participate in the next go-round, but I hope I can.  I’ve made a couple of new friends from it, and I’ve had a blast not just getting packages but putting together the ones I’ve sent, too.

I’m fairly certain I know who’s been sending to me.  I figured it out by accident b/c of something she said in an email to me that was the same as something on a blog I read, but then again, she could just read that blog, too.  I’ll know for sure pretty soon.  She’s been great, either way.

Tease…

05 Oct SP Goodies Second Package - Yarn  Remember this yarn from my FKAL SP?  Well, on Saturday evening, as a reward for finishing the aforementioned felted bag, I cast on with this for the Multi-Directional Diagonal Scarf.  I will admit that I’m a freak b/c we went to bed when I had just started the first short row section, then upon realizing that hubby was totally exhausted (remember, he had been up since 3:00 a.m.), so it was an “I love you, good night” kinda night, as soon as hubby started snoring I got back UP and OUT of bed and went back to the living room to knit some more on it.

I was up until 1:00 a.m., knitting away (hysterical “commercial” on Mad TV for the “iPad”, OMg!  ROFLLMBO!).  Those short rows are a blast!  This is a great pattern for this particular yarn b/c it’s a lot of fun to see where the sections of multi are going to pop up and how it will look with the multi-directional thing going on with the triangles.

Do I have an “in progress” picture for you?  Nope.  That’s why I said this post was a tease.  I should be able to finish it today, so I’ll just wait and post a “finished object” picture.  As I knit, I can’t help thinking that this scarf could be really cool in one of those self-striping yarns.  Imagine the stripes on the triangles.  Very cool.

Once again, THANK YOU FKAL SP for this wonderful yarn!

Taa Daaah!

05 Nov Purple Beaded Bag After Felting Here she is, post-felting.  She’s still a little floppier than I’d like, but she felted well — no stitch definition left.  Feels good to have another bag done; I hadn’t done one in a while.

Someone had asked about the handle.  It’s just garter stitch, six stitches wide, with the Lett Lopi and the Galway double-stranded for strength.  I’d like it better if it were longer, but I wanted to use the Lopi, and I wanted it double-stranded, so that’s as long as I could make it.
