Crummy Day

Well, today started out OK; it just went downhill fast.  With the girls at their first sleepover party, the morning started great, being able to sleep a bit later, not have “Mom!  Mom!  Mom!” every 45 seconds, being able to enjoy the freedoms you only have with no kids in the house.  It was even doing a faint drizzle this morning.

Then we got to church.  Should be fine, but M came and sat right behind us with the new baby, who was fussing and crying and making new baby noises.  In my head, I know that I really can’t expect people to remember and think about us and how we might not want their new baby sitting by us, but it’s hard.

The choir was great today, but with the baby sitting behind us, when they were singing about “when I laid my burdens down”, I couldn’t take it any more and left the room.  Hubby & I were out there for a while, then eventually went back inside.  I had a really hard time concentrating on the sermon (don’t worry Ray; it’s not you, it’s me), but I caught some of it.  Different babies in the room made their various noises at times.  Then, after communion, I just got my stuff and left b/c the babies in the baby class (next door to the service, not the wisest choice) were really getting going crying, and I coudln’t take it.  Of course, when I had to go to the ladies’ room one last time, M was sitting right by there w/the baby.  After that, hubby & I just left.  Too many babies, too much pain, and I just couldn’t deal.

Hubby dropped me at home so I could eat, let Jenna out, and relax while he went to go get the girls.  As I was sitting here at the computer, reading my email, I heard a weird noise and looked over at Jenna just in time to see her puke, partly on the floor and partly on her bed.  Now, I had been planning to wash her blankets and change the cover on her bed today anyway, but really now.  And why does she almost always choose to puke when hubby’s gone, so I have to be the one to clean it up?  Is this to make up for the time I had the horrendous food poisoning (hubby & Nana think it was e. coli) and hubby cleaned up after me?  Ugh.

So, now I’m sitting here, waiting to see what else is going to happen.  We had talked about having the new neighbors over for dessert tonight, but I am just not up to it.  Good thing we didn’t invite them yet.

All I want to do is wrap up in my blankie (I already have on jammie pants and a fleece top), pop in a movie, and sit in my chair and knit all day (I know I can’t just get in bed & sleep the day away).

Six days till Grandma gets here.  Woo hoo!  That will be great.  We can’t wait….
