Today

Well, today is a big day for us.  Hubby and I are going to be on a parent panel at a nursing conference in the City about caring for the dying and their families.  Say a prayer/cross your fingers/whatever for us.  It will be really good to help nurses learn what people in our situation need, but it will, of course, be VERY emotional.

Halloween

Well, Halloween was great fun.  Thing Two and I went to the party in Thing One’s class, then stayed to watch the parade.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get pictures of the two best costumes in the whole parade — a bird in a cage, and a man walking on his hands.  They were a sister & brother, so those parents had been working hard!

Our friends Quentin & Nicole came over for dinner and to trick-or-treat/pass out candy with us.  The guys took the Things & Jenna out trick-or-treating, and we girls passed out candy.  It was a lot of fun.  I razzed some of the kids b/c they were way too old to still be going out.  Two of the boys had facial hair!  The best costume that came to our door was a little boy only two or three years old dressed in a chicken suit.  He was so cute!  We will always remember the kid in the chicken suit.  I mean really — have you ever even SEEN a chicken suit that small?

Things still aren’t completely up to speed here on blog.com, so I can upload pictures, but not scale them or stick them in posts.  For all the Halloween pictures, click here.

The best thing about the night?  I didn’t eat one bite of the candy we bought to pass out (and we ran out, so there isn’t any lingering to tempt me)!  All I had of the girls’ stuff was one LifeSaver and three individual Skittles.  Whooppee!  This is a definite first!
