On The Needles
So, I have three scarves on the needles, and NONE of them are for me. Of course, I have lots of scarves, but I am just about ready to make myself that multi-directional scarf with the yarn from my FKAL SP. <I know you’re out there, I believe I know who you are, and you have been terrific to me!>
#1 = The never-ending gold Wool-Ease Double Lace Rib scarf. I measured tonight, and it’s five feet long. I finished the first skein and am over a foot of scarf into the second skein. So, the two big questions on this are a) Should I make it longer, or should I stick a fork in it, and b) Should I add some fringe or leave it alone?
#2 = What I’m calling The Pinstripe Scarf. Yarn is the black & white yarn from The Yarn Fairy. I forget the name of the stitch I’m using, but it’s from the first Barbara Walker book, and it has good vertical lines. It’s pulling in a lot, though, so I’m wishing I’d made it one repeat wider. Oh, well; it will just be a narrow, ’80’s-style scarf. Someone will like it.
#3 = Turkish Stitch scarf from some of the mystery yarn from Jeannette. I really like how it looks. I made Patricia’s birthday scarf in this stitch, not knowing it had a name and was an official stitch. I just thought it would look cool. The yarn is working well for it. As it pulls through my hand, it doesn’t feel soft, but when I knit it up, the scarf doesn’t feel scratchy at all.
Still trying to decide what to do with the yarn from Sherri. I have about 400 yards of this interesting turquoise/multi yarn that says it’s DK. I’m wondering if I could double it and make a One-Skein Wonder out of it? Not sure who I’d give such an animal to, though. I certainly can’t wear something like that. No, no, no, no, no. I would end up looking like, “Hi, I’m Erica, and these are…” well, you get the picture. I suspect the solid turquoise cotton/viscose yarn will find its way into Adri’s possession in some form; I just have to decide the form. Hmmm….she’d look good in a One-Skein Wonder….
Haven’t made a felted bag in what feels like ages. That will be my next project, I think. I’ve been keeping track of my inventory, and I think I only have six bags for the boutique, so I need to beef up that area. Dani and I are doing another yarn trade (if she’d ever send me her address again - aHEM!), so I’ll be getting my hands on a one-pound cone of LP worsted in black soon. A while ago, I bought a pair of clip-on earrings and a brooch that I thought would look great as fasteners/embellishments on bags. I have this vision of a simple, clean black bag with a glittery square earring as the closure. We’ll see if I can actually bring myself to make a whole bag out of just one color! <BG>
