Wave of Light

At 7:00 pm on October 15, 2005, families around the United States will light candles in memory a precious life that has been lost too soon. Too many families grieve in silence, sometimes never coming to terms with their loss.

If you or someone you know has suffered a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, a baby born still, the loss of a baby to SIDS, premature birth or other cause of infant death, we hope you will join us in this national tribute to create awareness of these tragic infant deaths and provide support to those that are suffering.

Recently, Congressman Tom Latham of Iowa introduced a House Resolution supporting the Goals and Ideals of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, October 15th, and calling on the President of the United States to issue a proclamation encouraging the American people to honor this special day of remembrance.

We encourage you to contact your local Congressman’s Washington DC Office and ask him or her to Co-Sponsor House Resolution # 222. For more information, and to guide you in your efforts, please visit http://www.october15th.com/congress.htm.

Following are links to additional memorial opportunities available to families. First Candle also distributes grief packets to help families cope and has bilingual crisis counselors available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Reflections . . . where the memories of your baby live on. First Candle invites you to light a candle and share your baby with visitors to our site.

Tree of Hope National Memorial . . . serves as a lasting memorial and permanent tribute to the thousands of babies who have died of SIDS, stillbirth and other causes of infant death. The memorial represents our loss and our love in a way that nothing else can.

Donations . . . in your baby’s name will help us continue important research, programs and services in hopes of a future where all babies survive and thrive.

FKAL SP Strikes Again!

…and this time, the package didn’t take three weeks to arrive!  <BG>

05 Oct SP Goodies Second Package All the goodies!

05 Oct SP Goodies Second Package - Yarn  YARN!  Filatura Di Crosa 127 Print.  TWO balls.  Trying to figure out what to make with it.  I’ll have to think about it a bit….

05 Oct SP Goodies Second Package - Bag A VERY special bag that a friend of hers made [corrected 10/14].  Almost, but not quite, the size & shape of a Sophie.  Would make a nice small fall purse or a knitting bag for a small project like Barbie clothes or hair flowers, etc.

05 Oct SP Goodies Second Package - Teeth  This is the face I make when I have to frog a row or three of lace knitting.

In case you couldn’t tell, the other stuff was a zippered pencil case that would be perfect for carrying around my knitting notions (something a bit classier and more durable than my Ziploc freezer bag), some Halloween cookies, a Halloween pumpkin Peep decorating kit, a Halloween sucker decorating kit, and a Patons “Great Felted Bags” book.  My favorite is the red one with the i-cord squiggle on the front of it.

THANK YOU, FKAL SP!  You rock!
