Edgar the Edgy Scarf

05 Sept Edgar 001  This is my attempt at an arty-farty picture of Edgar.  Isn’t he cool?  Edgar is made from the special yarn from my SP.  It took longer than I expected to make it, but it was well worth it.

The pattern calls for size 8’s, but I ended up having to use size 10’s b/c it was too tight.  If I make this again, I’ll probably even go up to 10 1/2’s so it will be softer and drape better.  I did twelve repeats as specified for a medium Edgar b/c I wasn’t confident I had enough yarn for 17 repeats, plus 12 seemed long enough.  I have a little bit of yarn left that I can use as an accent in a felted bag or something.

Thanks AGAIN, SP for the great yarn!

An interesting side-effect of making Edgar is that I’m going to be teaching another mom from Thing Two’s craft class how to make a simple triangle shawl.  She was fascinated by what I was doing and started asking me questions.  She just knows the knit stitch and wants to make something other than a rectangular scarf, so she asked if it was hard to make a shawl, so I told her to bring her needles & some yarn next Tuesday, and I’d show her how to do a really simple triangle.
