The Dog

05 Aug Dog Fruit Here is an example of one of the many benefits to having a dog.  I spill the fruit, Jenna eats it up off the floor, and I don’t have as much to clean up.  Now, I was rather upset about spilling it b/c it was a LOT of fruit, and I was looking forward to having some myself, but I suppose it’s not a total waste — she got a treat, and the rest will go into the compost heap.

I was surprised that Jenna only ate about half of it, and she took a while to eat it.  If that had been meat, it would have all been gone in two minutes!  She was very methodical about it — she started on the edges and worked her way inward toward the center.  She kept stopping and looking up at me to make sure that what she was doing was OK, that she wasn’t going to get into trouble.  Pretty funny.

Homespun Shawl - DONE!

05 Aug Shawl DONE 00105 Aug Shawl DONE 00205 Aug Shawl DONE 003 I was almost finishing the tassel in the car on the way to church today, but I managed to finish it before we left.  So, we have here:

  1. The “get one from far away to show how big it is” shot.
  2. The “get one up closer to show that the shawl has openwork in it” shot, a.k.a. the “orchid stem growing out of my head” shot.
  3. The “up-close-and-personal” detail shot of the tassel.

I’m not super thrilled with how the bound-off edge turned out, but that’s OK.  I ended up knotting the two front ends to hold it on for a good portion of today.  I really like wearing some kind of wrap.  I’d like to make a lacy one sometime, too.
