Shawl

05 Aug Homespun Shawl IP Here’s the aforementioned shawl.  The yarn is Lion Brand Homespun in Harvest and Olive.  I’d rather have just done it in Harvest, but every pattern I looked at called for three skeins of yarn, and I only have two skeins of the Harvest.

I realized last night that I’m going to have to get some new needles in order to complete this.  I don’t have a circular long enough for how big this is going to end up becoming  Ooops!  LYS, here I come (if I drive up to Beverly’s, I’ll end up buying too much stuff)!

Knitting ADD

I seem to have developed a case of Knitting ADD.

Theoretically, I’m supposed to be making some more hats for The Preemie Project, but yesterday I started a stashbuster shawl.  First, I was going to use the basic Prayer Shawl pattern, but I got frustrated on the first row and started over.  Then, I started a freeform thing.  After several rows, I realized I was increasing backwards — it was coming out like a top-down poncho with the V-shape going the wrong direction, so I started doing the increases differently.  I think it will turn out OK, though.  It’s a little pouchy in that bottom section, but I can weight it down with a tassel, and it should stretch out OK.

I still have Baby Kai’s blanket on the needles, in a bag, in a box in the living room.  It’s been languishing there, abandoned since I found that dropped stitch.  The dropped stitch is sitting on a stitch holder, waiting for me to figure out how to pick it back up.  I didn’t want to continue knitting on it till I figured out how to fix it.  It would be no big deal to pick it back up if it were straight stockinette, but it’s a heart pattern, and I don’t want to screw it up.  I’m thinking that when the “Knit and Craft Group” ladies have our first meeting here on the 27th, I’ll ask Renna or someone else how to fix it.  I’d take it to the LYS and ask for help, but I didn’t buy the materials there; it’s just inexpensive Wool-Ease (fuschia & purple, very cool), not the nice stuff they carry.  At this rate, by the time I get this blanket done, Kai will be born already!  Maybe I should just frog it and make her a sweater/hat set or something.
