Cool Adoption Book

If you’re looking for a cool adoption book for a young kid, this is a perfect one.  It’s written from a Biblical perspective, weaving in with the usual adoption stuff talk about how God adopts us into his family and how Moses and Esther were adopted, etc.  We gave this book to Thing Two’s best friend Andrei for his birthday (along with the coon-skin cap), and we’re giving it to the girls’ friend Phoenix to celebrate the finalizing of her adoption.

The Preemie Project - Hats

05 Aug Preemie Project First Hats 001 Just finished my first two hats to send to The Preemie Project.  These are SO much better than the first ones I made for UCSF!  Oh, well.  I’m sure I’ll make more for them in the future.

For those who care….

YARN:  Lion Brand Homespun, color - Cobalt.  I had about 1/2 a skein left after I made Pattydeo’s birthday scarf.  I still have quite a bit left.  I’ll probably be able to make two more from what I have.

NEEDLES:  size 10 dpn’s

PATTERN:  Pattern?  Pattern?  Oh, I didn’t use one.  For the big one, I cast on 40 sts, for the smaller one, 26 sts.  They’re both done in stockinette st with a row or two of “yo k2tog”, etc.  I really liked making the pink lace hats, and I didn’t want these ones to be totally plain, but I didn’t want them lacy per se since they’re obviously for boys.

I wanted to photograph them in front of something for scale, so I hope the books help (and I thought the parenting/grief books were appropriate).  It’s hard to see the detail in this picture, but it’s OK, I suppose.
