SAND

Well, we went to SAND (Support After Neonatal Death) last night - the first time in a while.  It’s easier for us to make it during summer or other vacation times b/c it’s on a school night.

Once again, we were SO glad we went.  It really helps to talk with people who “get it”.  In some small way, it also helps to be able to encourage and support others who aren’t as far down the road as we are.  We’re sort of the “senior couple” there, having lost Paul longer ago than they’ve lost their children.  It’s always heartbreaking to hear someone else’s story, partially b/c we know something of the pain they’re feeling.

There’s one couple we met there in March who won’t be coming for a while b/c they’re expecting another baby.  They’re taking a break from our group and going to be attending the “Pregnancy After Loss” group instead.  If you’re reading this, guys, a toast to you, David & Heather!  We meant everything we said last night about being happy for you (and about wanting to set up golfing for the guys).  We’ll miss you at the group — we like you guys a lot — but we understand your need to go to the other group; we would in your shoes.
