Baby Blankets

I’m going to make a baby blanket for Baby Kai, my good friend Julie’s baby, who is due in August.  I’m having a terrible time deciding what pattern to use.

I’m going to be using Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Fuchsia and Purple.  Yes, it’s inexpensive yarn, but I just can’t see using expensive stuff for a baby blanket.  It needs to be machine washable & dryable, durable, and soft.  This stuff fits the bill.  The blanket for Baby Andrew was so soft in the CottonTots, but I’m afraid it won’t be very durable.  The ones for the twins (Matthew & Michael) are pretty indestructible in the cheap acrylic Red Heart yarn, but they’re not as soft.  So, I went with the Wool-Ease.  The little bit of wool in it makes it so much softer.

This one is basically a ripoff of a pattern I bought in a booklet and made for my twin nephews.  I like the pattern, but I’m afraid I’d get bored b/c I’ve made it before.

This one could be cool.  It reminds me of a ripple one Thing Two was given when she was born, but it’s knit instead of crocheted, which would kill me.

What do you think?

Waiting For Yarn…

Hubby came to me a while ago and said, “What did you buy with PayPal from…I want to say WeebleWobbles, but I know that’s not it?”  I cracked up.  “You mean Pollywogs?”

Well, that was my big internet yarn order for felting.  I’m waiting for it to arrive.  I hope it gets here soon, or at least before I need the yarn for my sil’s black Sophie with turquoise flower on it.  Hubby reminded me (not angrily, though, thank goodness), that I wasn’t supposed to be buying yarn.  He asked what I was going to do with the yarn I already had in the attic, and I told him I had stuff in mind for it.  I explained what I had ordered, the great deal I had gotten, and said I was stocking up now for when I need it.  His reply?  “You’re all stocked up.  No more, OK?”  What a swell guy!

It’s funny; I haven’t worked on a bag since Sophie III, and I’m itching to get back to it already.

Here’s what I’m waiting for:

> · 4 skeins Lamb’s Pride worsted - Lotus Pink seconds
>
> · 4 skeins Lamb’s Pride worsted - RPM Pink seconds
>
> · 4 skeins Lamb’s Pride worsted - Orchid Thistle seconds
>
> · 1 skein Lamb’s Pride worsted - Aztec Turquoise

Uh, oh.  I just realized I didn’t get any black.  Well, THAT I can get at my LYS.  Unfortunately, it will be more expensive, but I can get it.
