Ironic

On Monday, Thing One’s school gave out “Perfect Attendance” certificates for kids who hadn’t missed a day the last trimester from March 15 to June 3.  When they called Thing One’s name for her to come up in front of the school to get her certificate, she wasn’t there.  Where was she?  Why, home with a crusted over nose and a goopy cough, of course!

What a bummer to miss two days (she was out yesterday, too) the last week of school!  In one sense, it’s the perfect time to miss b/c they’ve finished the real instruction already, but it’s a bummer b/c she missed stuff that was fun.  Oh, well.  At least she won’t be out tomorrow for the last day.

Tomorrow the kindergarten & first grade has a field trip to a local park for a picnic.  They walk from the school to the park and are there until time to walk back just before the early minimum day release.  Family members are welcome to come along.  Last year, I was pregnant and not up to doing the walk, so Thing Two and I met them there.  It was windy and freezing, so Thing Two and I didn’t stay very long b/c she was complaining.  It was really warm over the weekend and on Monday, but now, of course, it’s getting colder.  It’s supposed to rain tomorrow night, so I have a feeling that tomorrow we’re in for a repeat of last year.  Oh, well.  The one good thing about having to leave early would be that if we did we’d be able to see our friend Jack graduate from 5th grade.
