Herman The Fish
On Saturday, a lake near us had “Trout Day”. One netted-off section of the lake was stocked with a whole bunch of trout. Kids ages 6 - 15 were given tackle, a book about fishing, casting lessons, and help to catch one fish each.
Hubby took Thing One, and she had a blast! They hadn’t caught anything, and she was getting bored, so they were reeling in her line to leave. As it turns out, one of the trout was too traumatized by being put in the lake and had just died in there. Thing One’s line got tangled around it when they were reeling in, so she “caught” a fish just as they were leaving. She was SO excited! Later, she named the fish Herman. Not sure why; I think she said it was the name of a character in “The Magic Schoolbus”.
To top it all off, she made the 10:00 news that night in a story about “Trout Day”. She was the only kid they put on. I think it was b/c she was the cutest, but then, I’m just a little bit biased. We taped it, so you family folks out there will be forced to watch it at some point.
The rest of the pictures are here. It’s not really all of them b/c I was having trouble uploading them, but most of them are there. Hubby got a couple of video clips, too. Love that new camera!
