Sophie the 2nd

05 June Sophie II Pre-Felting05 June Sophie II Post-Felting Well, she’s done!  Here are the “before felting” and “after felting” pictures.  Pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

Since Sophie takes so little yarn, I’m amassing some cool leftover yarn.  When I get enough, I’ll have to make a rainbow-striped bag of some kind.  Wouldn’t that be cool?  I’m not going to pay the high price for some Noro Kureyon, so maybe I’ll use all my leftover yarns to make a Booga Bag.

I like the style & shape of Sophie, but she’s pretty small.  Perhaps I’ll make a “Double Sophie” — doing everything double the size to get a more normal-sized bag.  Hmmm….There’s an idea!  (OK, Julie Anderson of Black Sheep Bags did make a “grown-up Sophie” pattern, but I don’t want to buy it!)

Sophie The 2nd, Etc.

06 June Sophie II In Progress This is Sophie the Second.  She’s almost done.  Love the purples.  I’m almost done with strap #1.  Then all I need to do is strap #2, attach the other end, felt her, and she’s done!

Joined a felted bag knit-along the other day.  Being a newbie, I was afraid that it might be been breaking some kind of unwritten rule to join when I already had one in progress and three completed, but it turned out not to be.  It’s cool to see pictures of other people’s bags, hear about their challenges and progress, etc.  NOT that I had any shortage of emails to begin with!

So, logically, what did I do today but join another Yahoo! group.  This one is called Still Grieving.  It’s for people who lost babies six months or more ago.

Then, of course, there are all the Pit Bull emails I’ve gotten the last several days. Oh, boy!

Field Trip

The first grade had a field trip to the zoo today.  What an adventure!  I really wasn’t feeling emotionally or physically like going — I just wanted to crawl in bed and pull the covers up over my head — but Thing One was so excited about it that didn’t dare back out.  Thing Two went to Pat & Christine’s house and had a blast.

Forgot to take the camera with me.  That was a bummer b/c there would have been some cute shots.  Oh, well.

Rode up to the zoo with two other moms, one of whom is one of the second-grade teachers (job share; she only teaches the first half of the year).  I tried to find out whose class Thing One was going to be in next year, but she didn’t know.  She said she wouldn’t even know which class her own son would be in till the letters went out in August.  Oh, well.  I tried.

Ballet

05 May Ballet Performance 001 Thing One had a ballet class “performance” last week.  They were pretty cute, with their purple tulle squares and stuff.  She really enjoys it, and it’s cute to watch them.  I don’t she’ll ever be dancing with the ABT, but hey, it’s something physical she enjoys doing, and it requires a certain amount of discipline, which is good.
