Kitchen

We haven’t had a designer in yet or anything, but for those who’ve wondered, this is the basic color scheme/look I’m going for.  Hubby and I will have to work out the details of all the features we want.  He has certain things he’s particular about, etc., but I get to determine the color and style.

Helga Update

05 May Helga Phase 2 This picture was taken with the good digicam with flash, so it’s a truer rendering of the colors.  As you can see, Helga is growing quite well.  I’m just about ready to start the bottom (it’s a top-down pattern).  I don’t like the way the pattern says to do the flat bottom, though.  It has too much seaming, which seems to me like it wouldn’t be as sturdy.  I’ll probably do mitered corners like Inge so that the bag will end up more square.  We’ll see…

Performance

Well, they had the big kindergarten/first grade performance at Thing One’s school today.  It was pretty cute.  All the songs had something to do with food (even if it was only one line), so the theme was “The Pantry”.  Unfortunately, hubby and I had a lack of communication, so we were there w/o camera, and I dont’t have any pictures to post.

Here’s the program:

  • Chicken Soup With Rice
  • The Corner Grocery Store
  • Dance:  Chicken Dance (Thing One’s class and a K class did this together.  Very cute.)
  • Lollipop Tree
  • I Am A Pizza
  • Dance:  Hukilau
  • Octopus (a.k.a. Slippery Fish)
  • I Like Potatoes
  • Dance:  Mexican Hat Dance (Too bad her class didn’t do this one.  Grandpa Paul would have been proud!)
  • Apples and Bananas
  • Take Me Out To The Ballgame

She’s been practicing the songs for weeks, so we all know all the words to all of them.  It’s always fun to check out all the kids while they’re performing.  There was one first grade boy who looked like a young Elvis in his black suit and white shirt with his hair slicked back.  A kindergarten boy had his hair in a Mohawk and his hands in his pockets, not participating.  Fun!
