G-R-E-Y

Yes, it’s true; I found three grey hairs last night.  As I was getting ready for bed, I spent some time looking in the mirror, inspecting my wrinkles and checking out my roots and how the highlights are growing out (looks pretty bad).  After a bit, I found a hair that didn’t look like the others, so I called hubby into the bathroom to get his opinion.

“Honey, is this a highlighted hair, or is it grey?”

[Half a second later]  “It’s grey”, then he left the bathroom, unimpressed, to return to the couch, his overtime from home on his laptop, and Gary Radnich.

Excited and inspired, I kept inspecting and found two more.

So now I have a dilemma.  Granted, if this is my biggest problem in life, I’ve got nothing to worry about, but it’s a dilemma nonetheless.  Should I:

  1. Get my highlights touched up, thereby not looking so tacky any more, but risking covering up those grey hairs (Hey, I’m proud of them!  I earned every darn, stinking one of them!)?
  2. Forget about the highlights and get my hair dyed back to its natural color, thereby also covering up the grey hairs, but knowing that they’ll come back eventually?
  3. For the sake of letting the grey show, let the highlights grow out and look tacky, taking solace in the knowledge that I’m being honest by letting the grey show?  If I choose this path, I could take my current “long shag” hair cut shorter so that the layers are then shorter, and the highlighted parts would end up getting cut out sooner.

What do ya’ll think?  Comment on this post and let me know.

Flowers, Flowers, Everywhere

05 May exploding roses.JPG05 May Lilies.JPG05 may nightshade.JPG

All that pruning we did on the pink rose bush is REALLY paying off.  Look at how it’s exploding in flowers!  It’s so much fuller than it was last year, and we’ve discovered some new sprouts down lower, too.

The picture of the lilies didn’t come out too well, but I had to include it anyway.  I’m really excited that they’re finally blooming.  They’re really tall, and they lean toward the sun, so they look like they want to fall over.  They look white in the picture, but they’re actually yellow.

The other picture is the nightshade bush/tree that I planted last week in the front.  I’ve been looking at the neighbor’s for a year, thinking how much I liked it.  When I was looking for something for the front, I finally decided that I should get one since I liked it so much.  It’s dumb — I was afraid the neighbors would think I was copying them.  Gee, am I still in elementary school or what?
